Looks like you were right by my tent, I was set up right beside that little cx500 powered 3 wheeler.

I saw JohnBoys ZXR750 for sale as well, although couldn't find him. That is one nice bike, someone buy it off him!.

I arrived saturday around 2:15. In the car unfortunately after last weeks gasket issues. My sister and her man come down from Hamilton so for us it's a chance to catch up with I always enjoy.

Saturday night was cold and noisy. I think I may have got 2 hours sleep. The crap music they cranked up after the bands finished didn't help. It sounded like the B52's whacked out.
That burning bike is (was) an early VFR 750. It threw a conrod through the front casing apparently. After that burning was the axe, then onto the main bonfire. By 2am there wasn't so much left. 1 side of the swingarm had melted, both rims had melted or burnt down to the wheel hubs.

hehe, good to see such an environmental concern at the cold kiwi with the burning tyres and bike! I was amazed at the number of blokes intent on getting a close up look at the burnouts and standing on the downwind side!

I never used to really mind harleys or their owners... until one of them did the bunch a MAJOR disservice by riding down the (slippery) hill 1ft from my tent at 3am, clearing out the guy ropes on the tent below me and somehow managing to slither through the gap of his bike (guy ropes went out to the bikes tyres!)

Had a flatty when I went to pack up on Sunday but Mike from cycletreads managed to scrounge up a suitable tyre (despite having packed everything away) that hadn't got sacrified on the bonfire so I could get home. Top bloke!

Definitely colder than last year and I generally got shower/sun/shower/sun on the way north but not too bad at all (900 kms on open roads and no speeding ticket has GOT to be good!)
Good band and fireworks display too. I REALLY need to get there earlier next year so I can see the hill climb.

Thx to SPman and Fran for the breakfast company in Waiouru. I'll have to make a trip down there when its warmer, dryer and I have a radar detector so I can fully enjoy the desert road!

I watched you ride up to Cycletreads. I was standing by the sound caravan waiting for the ute to come back and give me a lift up the hill to the car.

The road in on Friday suxed ... especialy with a bad miss on the GIXR. Smug guy on KLX 600 thought he was cool when he went past me ... I nearly fell off from laughing when the guy on the Buell went past him

Friday night was great but even better to wake up with snow on the ground . We lost count of how many battles of Stone's went down but at least I managed to bring a 30th bottle home.

Was all good and will have to be done again. Always good to catch up with rally mates every year.

yeah the road on the way in was pretty tragic, the zed didnt like the mud. nearly put it in the fence a few times!
band on the first night was pretty good (or atleast after a few beers! ) and a bit par on the second, burn outs and hill cilmb were action.
had average sleep, the guys across the road had a generator and a bbq the size of a piano. they also decided to enlighten us all with thier singing all night long.
was an overall great event and i will be back next year.

We headed down fri as per plan,a little late as usual and got there just on dark.One of the boys got busted for 115kph on the national park road,but otherwise it went pretty smoothly.Good band friday night,crap band sat.Everyone was a lot mellower this year and I upset a couple of guys when I was being an idiot skidding around in the mud.Went in the hillclimb on my mates old trailie ,got up no worries(easy side),was gonna try the hard side but they finished real quick so I didn't get the chance.One of my mates rammed the trees,and the other had a real good arse off (on an old fzr250 wreck) when he let it run backwards down the hill. .The trials bikes demo was pretty good,one of the guys was bloody amazing.Another mate took the fzr in the burnouts,did about 3 min 40secs'till they stopped him for some reason......
Hit the hay fairly early sat night(a bit sore and broken),got up to rain sun morn,packed up and headed off,stopped in awakuni(?) for a while then headed home,stopped to help a guy and his daughter on a hardley that had crashed(draco's a medic)they were ok and had an ambulance coming so we carried on.good trip,no rain got home about 3 ish.
We'll be there again next year(I've been going about 10 years),look forward to it.

Had a good weekend. Did not really get to speak to many KB's, that I know of. The Friday night band was good. Man it got cold!!! Nothing I could not handle, You dont go there to be warm do you? Next year I hope to bring up an old shitter, so I can really have some fun.

Me too - an old shitter (the van) carrying an older shitter (the mighty TS90), a large woolen Yurt and the biggest heater I can find!

Hey it was me on the hardley that crashed north of Tamuranui, just about to give it the gas after coming around a corner in wetish conditions and the back wheel slid out from me and the bike went down real quick remember seeing a blue purplish colour on the seal slid for about 30 metres bike finishing in the water table on the left ,me and my daughter sliding across the other side. Thinking about it now 20 years ago I was an Ambulance Officer in Papakura pre motorway median barriers days and I remember the results of motorcycles crossing to the other side into traffic. Not pretty, and she still wants to go to the kiwi next year on her own bike, wife will need a bit of work to agree though. Her version of the accident was I spent more time with my bike than I did with her. The guy with the paramedic girfriend thanks for checking up on us. Got contacts in the industry and should have the bike back on the road for less than $250 and a biker friendly cage driver ( ex biker)even dropped the bike off at home in Glenbrook for me and wouldnt take any money.
