What is the best helmet that you have used?

I have a Nolan N102 with the Basic Comms kit and Bluetooth (those are the controls you see over the left ear in the photo). Here you see it being charged up in my office as we speak

With the Basic Comms Kit, you can plug in helmet-helmet comms for a pillion, plus you can set up a cellphone and an iPod together. The iPod will mute when the phone is answered

This helmet is quiet, has anti-lift, has chin wind guard and the amazing pinlock anti-fog visor system as standard. Not only that, it has a flip-down tinted sun visor. I believe it's the only sub-$1,000 helmet with that.

Nasty and I ride a lot together (hers is actually an N102 as well) so we have the Bluetooth kits for bike-bike comms as well as for our phones. The bike to bike comms distance is about 5-6 car lengths which we very seldom exceed when touring and the quality of the ride is increased a thousand fold as we explore new places and see new things

I recently tried on every helmet i could find in the auckland area.

Only a couple of models fit comfortably enough for me - Arai Astro R, and the Schuberth.

Maybe i'm fussy or got a bung shaped head (now that'd be a surprise). But for me fit is everything..... Earplugs fix the noise.

So there's the example on opinions - I reckon my Nolan to be the noisiest lid out there; certainly worse than any other hat I have owned, and bloody uncomfortable after an hour's wearing. But... it is an excellent commuting/shopping/short trip hat. But that's my opinion. Grub obviously likes his one.

Always had Shoeis. Broke one and survived (Western Springs) and grazed them a few times. The current one (in the avatar) seems to be bloody noisey and fogs easily though. I thought the older ones were quieter. They've all been comfy and stable at speed (even with visor semi up)

Best helmet for noise & overall comfort that I've had was a Shoei RF108V Kevin Magee replica. Best vision/peripheral vision was from a Nolan N34.
Worst helmet I've had & only used a couple of times was a Centurion TMX2000

The best helmet i owned was a Shuberth Aero in the late '80s. I would have kept it as a commuting helmet if i could have got more visors for it.

More recently i have had KBC VR1, this was one of the 1st sold in the country. Great construction on the helmet itself but let down by the interior falling apart and out at times. i use this now as a commuting helmet. Would seriously consider another when i am next in the market. Currently using a HJC Symax - the flip-off front type that allows you eat/drink/walk into petrol stations without having to take it off. these helmets do have a disadvantage in that they are noisier than standard full faces but with good earplugs who cares. Typical HJC quality (very good - done 2 Southern Crosses in it) and most importantly fits my bonce where the flip fronts from Nolan and Shoei didn't.

Quiet?? i have a nolan n102 and its the noisiest thing ive ever worn. Its even too loud WITH ear plugs. I only use the nolan helmet for short trips in town. The flip front is handy. For the longer trips i use a cheap 99 dollar helmet, because its much more comfy than the nolan. Bit pissed off about that actually.
