Truck accident on Rimutakas (4 May)

I have just come back from the Wairarapa,in a car sadly, but on the north side, just by where the reconsruction is going on there was a medium sized truck that had gone through the barrier & down the bank, two very large tow trucks were atempting to pull it back onto the road

Sometimes you scratch your head and wonder how people end up in situations like that.

Watch trucks going down the Takas or the Gorge and see how many *don't* go down in the same gear they would go up in. Brakes fail, people die.

In Oz, any step grades require trucks to stop at the top and go down in first gear at max 40kph (usually about 25!).
