My goodness Bruce, you are obviously keen. I have been getting itchy about getting another SI KB rally on the go but December is 7months away. Anyhoo, never too soon.

With the talk about distance to travel, what about alternating between bottom middle one year and top middle the next so that those at the more extreme ends don't have so much of a marathon every year and so that the bunch of softies in Chch at least have to spend more than an hour to get there. Therefore, I would go for somewhere in a strip from kinda Kaikoura to Greymouth for this year.

Secondly, I have been thinking about getting a badge made up for these events. Was going to check out with Spank today about the possibility of using the KB logo (if he turns up at the LHog!!!). Does anyone know good places to get badges made? Talked to the guys at the Sundowner last week and they said something about Steam .... But I couldn't find anything in the yeller pages. Worth persuing?
I have just found out that they have removed the word gullible from the dictionary

    Show us a sign!

Will there be any need for signs?

If so somebody else can make them cause nobody reads the bloody things! (sulk, sulk)

My psychiatrist says I am making progress and says I should be OK again by December! Cheers John.

Great idea Alan.. HEY.. I KNOW a great place.. "The Staging Post" near Parnassus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (about 40ks south of Kaikoura!) We have had several of our Plains Club doo's there & a wedding!!! it's awesome.. several cabins, bunkrooms, big lounge area, 2 kitchens with all the gear, a few caravans, oodles of tent space, swimming pool, peacocks running round!!! spa pool outside with fairy lights in the trees above.. it would be PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whadda ya reckon guys??????????? I could make some enquiries for us!!!! let me know!!

The biggest things to consider are facilities, either somewhere with all the requirements (though majority of these locations mean having to share with general public) or a location/facility that has the bare requirements (which in turn means having to BYO items).

Either way a place that had the character & appeal of Otematata is preferable just for the fact of a totally relaxed atmosphere & location

I am well under way with a badge commemorating the "1st KB South Island Rally" for the participants of Otematata December 2006. The Art work is finished (Mt Cook photo with inlaid wording) made by same badge maker as Brass monkey Badge. I will not be using the KB Logo. Costs will be $10.00 by sending a Stamped self addressed envelope to Xknuts / Chris Miller, P O Box 5296, Dunedin.
I believe 23 people participated so I will run 25. But I may be wrong???, photographic evidence is good for proof. I know some of you did not make the official photo on the Mt Cook Road )( Kaz?, Jim?? Toddy?)

WEll I'd rather see something around the middle - mainly because of the Sunday ride home issue, and because everyone can go.
If you ChCh fellas are too close then FFS take a bloody detour via the West Coast to get there or something!

Yes, the Sunday ride home issue does need to be considered. Last year Otematata - Mt Cook - Clyde - Dunedin was 580 km, so lets find a venue within 600 km of everyone.

Ummm. I think all the venues so far suggested would be within that distance.
    Time to ride

    December ride

    Hi B,
I'd be keen for any outing with good roads, and thats a great area. Its going to be a long time between the Brass and then. Anyone interested in a quick trip via Middlemarch and Palmerston tomorrow if the weather holds?
