Chanceyy- I'm sure a lady of your dispostion and good breeding has at least some small measure of ahem "medicinal" liquor on hand to alleviate the symptoms. Failing that, I've got some drugs I can lend ya

I'd set most of today aside to strip and clean my new bike, so I launched into it about 8.30 this morning. Removed all the fairings, which isn't so straightforward on that bike as they've been a bit butchered over the years. Anyway, got them off, pushed it onto the lawn and gave it a really good degrease, wash and general onceover.

When I first got this bike, I noticed that it had obviously been dropped and the front fairing subframe and headlight assembly had been knocked out of alignment. In fact I'd had a massive hassle with the headlights as they were literally just 'floating' around inside their enclosure.

So I thought this would be the perfect time to deal to them properly. So, once I'd removed the assembly and dismantled and fixed the problem more or less it was once again a huge pain in the ass to get the headlights back in again, seeing as the subframe is slightly bent and there are bits missing from the headlight unit.

At this stage I noticed that I'd left the ignition on and had almost drained the brand new battery! Don't really know why, as I hadn't had anything running except the headlights for only a minute maybe. Anyway, threw the battery on the charger, so all good.

I got the fairings back on again, by this time it was getting on towards 3.00 pm and I was stiff and sore and feeling not so great having been breathing degreaser, CRC, and general bike fumes.

So I took her out for a much needed coffee, and knew that I'd need to fine tune the headlights as it got darker. This particular bike has always shone it's lights quite low due to the subframe damage, which is annoying at night. So as it got dark, I had a play being very careful not to disturb the fragile balance of the damaged unit.

Took it for a test, and both high and low beam looked pretty good! Yes!

It's completely dark by now,and stupid me decides I can probably adjust them just a little better. So I stop by the side of the road and start winding out the vertical adjuster. And bugger me, the adjuster just has to jump out of its mounting. That's OK though, it seems secure, I can't get to it here, and I'll just go home and sort it out. Get a mile or so down the road, when I hear the whole adjuster screw fall out of its position and onto the road.

God, so I backtrack and find it! Thank god!

Get it home, and as it means removing the front fairing again to get at the unit properly, I decide to skip this step and just reach in behind the fairing. Which I do, and accidently knock the bike forwards, whereapon the side stand flips up and the bike falls over onto my woodpile and cracks a fairing, and breaks the rearview mirror off. Plus bends the front subframe even more, and does something ominous to the sidestand mounting. F..K!

I collect the bits, curse and feel utterly pissed off at myself for being so dumb!

Then I give up in disgust, and go and gas up my other bike. I knew I should have just taken her in the first place - karma (and dumbassness).

    See you tomorrow
    Oh crap what a day
Youll forget all about it within the first few ks tomorrow

Not to sound like a nana, but shouldnt you be in bed with the electric blanket on? Rest up and fight the lurgies and all that.
Get well soon and when I can ride again you can show me the local back roads round your joint

Bugger, awake already. It's very mild outside with a brisk Southwesterly wind. Off to walk the mutt, pack the bike and have brecky. Hope I don't get back into zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz mode. Looking fwd to the run. Got a map incase of detours. Far too early to fill the thermous. Just got a PM from an old airforce buddy (gunnyrob) I haven't seen for years too, which just made my day.
