do nothing - leave things as they are
abolish rep entirely
keep it - but limit people to, say 12 red reps a year
keep it - but don't allow people to make comments with their red rep
keep it - but abolish it FOREVER for people who abuse it more than once
keep it - but people should lose the same points from THEIR total as the people they've red-repped
keep it - but make people who overuse it publically confess what sad bastards they are
keep it - but have a mod go round to the home of abusers and block up their toilet

I have had three red rep, one from someone who is currently sin binned, one from a general shit stirrer, but interestingly, the most degrading one was, i believe, from a senior mod.
ive never been given a red, or given someone a red. i like my greens.what troubles me is the occasional green gets given to me, with no comment. bit worrying that, but its green, so it must be ok!

i say keep it as it is, but maybe punish those that use it for bullying more often than not. [punish = sinbin or infraction]
i like the rep system... get some funny, supportive comments from many members. the supportive rep i received from the weight loss thread was incredible... great to read.

the really happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery when on a detour.
I got my first red rep the other day from some one... ovwer some comment...yeah... but then the following day I get a green rep from the person my comment was aimed at...
at the end of the day...![]()
I like the fact that the rep box defaults as positive.![]()

I voted to remove red reps only cause it seems to wind people up.
The only red I have received is from one person and a couple of their friends, not a big deal and the red was lost in the sea of green from the same incident. Does it really matter at the end of the day?
On other forums using the same layout, that don't have the rep system, I often find myself going to green rep someone only to remember it's not there. I think these forums are missing out.
I just gave some guy red rep, it felt good. Like a long blast on the Stebel. I signed my name to it, and announced in the thread "here's some red rep for you because you insulted my bike", I reckon as long as it's transparent and open, Red Rep can be a good tool for telling people they have gone too far.
Determined to kill my bike before it kills me
You're an angry young man, James!
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
we will remember them
I got red repped once. And the person who did it... wanted the honor of being my first red rep!
. .. and if he does it again I'm going to smack his bottom!!

But it didnt bother me. It would bother me if red rep was used as a way of putting someone down, if it was personal and abusive. I could live without the rep system entirely if I had to... but its lots more fun with it. I usually green rep posts that make me laugh, I agree with, or new members to make them feel welcome.
" It appears that the website has become alive. This happens to computers and robots sometimes. Am I scared of a stupid computer? Please. The computer should be scared of me."
I like your approach Lissa, probably much like mine as I've never red repped anyone.
Cheers
Merv
I don't red rep. If someone posts something I don't agree with I'll either post back my opinion or forget about it.
I don't really care what happens with it but you don't have that as an option.
My goal in life is to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am.
What CSL said.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
Yea well I have never red repped anyone....well except pay back to Inlinefour when he was giving me shit (lotsa red reps), which I totally flipped out and took personally![]()
I give green reps! and I just LURVE getting em.

I gave red a couple of days ago to a newbie that had posted seven times, all abusive and antagonistic. I gave red rep for the seventh post. That "newbie" has now disappeared - I assume it was one of our "bad boy" aliases?![]()
