Built for speed, not for comfort
As mentioned in another thread, I helped my boy build a car. We been testing mods over time and have got times down by 2.5 seconds by making seemingly small mods.
The last one I found interesting.
His previous best was 13.73 and times were a little variable (mostly around 14). I had found some info on the Web about oils and dyno runs with different weight oils. The dyno runs showed a measurable increase in power by going down in oil weights.
Many of the jappas in America use 20 weight oil to achieve their fuel economy regulations.
So hey, what we got to loose by going down to 30 weight oil from 40? Well he lost 0.5 of a second with consistent 13.3 and a best of 13.27 last Sunday (Nissan only day).
Ok, so it's not a scientific test (just as the last 2 seconds worth weren't either) but we will be using 30 weight oil from now on for the strip.
Oh, the research also said it would shorten your engine life, but hey so will drag racing too.
We swapped back to 40 for the road.

Now and forever
you're just another lost soul about to be mine again
see her, you'll never free her
you must surrender it all
And give life to me again
