What can that do that a TDM can't? Hmmmm? Yeah but nah but yeah, I always find the evolution of Yamaha family's really interesting. Half an FZR 1000 turns into a 750 desert basher turns into an 850 all roader, then a 900, then a 1200.

Oh, I can answer that question, they crash much betterer. Far less damage, manly scarring really, for those bikes.

The other thing was what would I replace it with which is just as versatile & reliable from the "modern" crowd? Still pondering that question.
There is a lot to be said for a bike which will do 70 kms of very twisty gravel, loaded with beer & wine + a pillion, scrape a footrest on the tar seal bit and arrive at the party with beer still cold & safe to open. Happy pillion, too.
Be interesting to see what that one goes for. Should sound lubberly with that pipe on, too.

Go on, buy it! That would bring the number of peeps I know (of) in NZ to four.

Oh, either that back tire has just been ridden from the fitters or the owner is not one for hoonery.

May be. Certainly one other lurking on trade me. 3 that I can see on KB including me & thee.

It's great to be far from the madding crowd with a thumping sound track.

All the New Years happy joys to you my friend. Did you fix that bulb that expired?

And all the best for 2014 yourself. All expired bulbs replaced and a matched set of BT023's in place.
After the recent resolution of back injury issues, the BT023's have been installed to remove temptation and avoid the necessity of answering the question: A gravel road, dual-purposes tyres, a dodgy back - what could possibly go wrong?
