Biker awarded A$212k for hitting horse

Gotta love the defendant's reasons for trying to wheedle out of it: "slipping, falling or snake bite"

Ever notice that anyone slower than you is an idiot, but anyone going faster is a maniac?

If you look closely, that's a "nominal defendant" - meaning that the actual culprit could not be found and he was actually suing a government fund. Still ... $212k for hitting something left in the middle of the road? I have a suspicion that if it had happened here you'd get the finger, and little else.

I know, but that was the argument that was put up.

I've heard about looking a gift horse in the mouth, but this is ridiculous!

There was a case here (or was it OZ?) a couple of years back where a young lad died after hitting a horse in the middle of the road. Basically the family got feck all and the horse owner got a $5000 fine.

Yep... you'd probably get the finger, but you'd also get ACC. No ACC in Australia.

Talk about flogging a dead horse.
