    What a great day/ride!

Thanks for the piccies everyone. You've got most people okay Merv - the guy with the yellow GSX11 is Jeff, can't remember the names of Mr Hyabusa and Mr GS1200SS sorry. PC800 guy is Adrian. Other GSX750 was Alan.

It was nice to see some of the newer members (et al, Gunner, Blakamin, bevsta) along as well as some of the longer-standing (I was going to say "older" but decided against it!) members.

I'll try to put some words together during the day (at work) and post them here.

I had a very small group to lead, we had a good ride with it taking me ages to catch up to Bevsta after each intersection (the reason I overtook you Bevsta was that I wasn't sure that you knew the route so easier to be in front of you at intersections where we needed to turn). Jeez mate that GN goes well!!

We had good weather, it was very warm (relatively speaking) and the only rain was when we were heading back home over the Takas, though Quasi who left the top of the Takas before us had some shit weather on his way to Paraparaumu.

Great company, safe riding, and reasonably good roads (thanks for the pre-warning re the roads Hitcher).

I even managed to keep up with the back of the medium group some of the time!

Jim2 - thanks very much for your organisation (particularly re the weather) and I'm very pleased you were able to make it on the run.

Jazbug and CSL - sorry you couldn't make it, but I'm sure there'll be more.

    Heres my ride report.

Went to "Twisted" at Phoenix on Saturdy night. Got home at 6:15.

Went to pick the kids up from the babysitters at 7:30. Rode with Quasi and Cajun to Upper Hutt.

Colapsed with a Red Bull and cigaretts. Deciding that a hoon to the top and back was about as much as I could handle. For the first time I couldn't keep up with Deano.

    Went home.

    The end.

This is not the sunny Metropolis of Gisborne down here, we have to contend with 10 deg kinda days blowing 40km/hr with a windchill kind of thing - so thermals it is with a good covering of gear on top. I even put the liner back in my jacket before I left home.
    Cheers

    A brief rundown.

Great day, I was a bit late after waiting for Hayden on his gixxer to turn up (he always seems to be late).

It was a shame WT and Hayden didn't carry on from the top of the Taka's, but they were all partyed out from the night before.

Cos of WT's state of mind and body, I was nominated for lead rider of the quick group.

So, we left Caltex and headed off feeling very keen to hit 'the hill'. Five minutes into it, Barry came hurtling past on his ? Aprilia RSVR - I did a bit of a double take as he wasn't part of the group ride but obviously just out scratching an itch. For those who don't know him he is pretty darn quick, so we commenced the chase, and lo and behold, come round a corner and here he is on the other side of the road eating dirt. The road was a bit messy in places at Kaitoke, and he must have lost the front end and low sided. Lucky nothing wasn't coming the other way or it would have been a lot worse. First (and only) bin of the day, but as he wasn't part of the organised ride I guess it doesn't count (except to Barry of course) No major damage, he turned back so we carried on.

Got to featherston after a good blat over the hill, and LooseBruce informs me of a cop we overtook in a plain Telstar....doh, hope there is nothing in the mail this week !!

After we regrouped in Featherston, headed to Flying Fish for a coffee. A few more bikers there, said the usual g'days, talked some bs and headed on our way again.

I led the quick guys on a bit of detour out of Martinborough (whoops, track knowledge not the greatest) so we hooked back up and found ourselves in the middle of the main bunch. These guys (and gals) were tootling along at a good pace, and not wanting to upset anyone, the quick guys filtered through in an orderly fashion to the front. The Gladstone Cliffhanger was good but the road was a bit messy in places.

Further on some cow cockeys were herding a couple of cattle along the side of the road so we putted past them, the next obstacle was some more farmers trying to catch a sheep and lamb with their farmdogs - we were cruising along a bit quicker this time and Bruce told me later he got a great view of the inside of my exhaust trying to pull the TL up.

Stopped at Masterton for gas, on to Carterton for lunch where Lynda gave a speech (mostly about bloody Ducati's and accessories - she's a walking advertisement).

Then off back up the Taka's where we pretty much went our separate ways.

Thanks to Jim2 for organising the route etc. Great to meet Quasi and Cajun, and to see Bruce again. (saw enough of him in my mirrors the whole day).

Nice to meet some more KBers for the first time, sorry to those I didn't get to talk too.

Cheers to Merv, Stonchucker and Blakamin for the pics.

Roll on Thursday for the bundi night.

    Thanks to everyone....

For behaving yourselves and not "binning" it.

Thanks to Merv, Blakamin, and Stonechucker for the pictures.

Thanks to Deano, Paul, Mike, Lynda and Hamish for looking after your respective groups so well.

Special mention to Cajun for being sensible and heading back to Wellington due to fatigue.

Thanks to Deano for the write up.

OK so that's what happened, someone mentioned to me an Aprilia was binned and I said I didn't think there was an Aprilia on our run when we left Caltex.
    Cheers

OK toads I've done my best at editing the posts to include the names but with 30 turning up in what is a relatively new group seems like we don't know each other yet even with help from Lynda, WT and et al. Others told me their names at the time but who remembers names in a crowd 5 seconds later? Not me.

Looked like a decent size turnout too, the more the merrier.

So, did the Auckland guys keep up with the front pack on the rides? I know Loosebruce would have been up there regardless of his unfamiliarity with your roads!

Plenty of time for socialising because it was a reasonably short ride with plenty of stopping - we didn't go all the way to Castlepoint or anything like that. Good turnout of about 30, to start with at least. All in all a good day and the weather was better than forecast.
    Cheers

Firstly thanks for the turn out guys, great to see such a wide variety of bikes and riders, secondly i lived in welly for 20 odd years and never had no one to ride with, were the hell av ya all been, nah just kidding, was great to catch up with some familar faces and meet lots of new ones.
Special thanks to Jim2 for the ride, and Paul in NZ for the break in param on our way down, i'm hoping to make it to the bundi night, time will tell, and the bill on fixing the TL up will tell as well .
The ride itself was fantastic, myself hadn't had a heck of alot of sleep and was a bit blury eyed on the way to caltex, but they soon opend when barry came hurtling past on the RSVR (which wasn't his), bad luck on the bin barry but i've seen his handy work in fixing bikes up, ala my K2 600.
To be honest i had never been out matrinbourgh way and was shocked at the quality of roads out there, more so to my comment of where have you guys been, it's more like where the hell have i been???
I stuck with deano most of the way in the fast group and busajim, kerry on his gixer1100 and glen on his R6 was never that far behind, glad the weather held off to the end, i turned to go back up the rima's at the end and it started raining when i was almost at the top.

Topped off an excellent but tiring day with a good homecooked meal (beats pizza everynight) and then watching a bit of superbike racing and thank god for prime the MotoGP with deano, cheers mate!

Will be down for sure for the Vic bike day at manfeild, should be dragging a few other aucklanders down with me to...........

Until next time, stay safe guys n gals, and cheers for the pics to merv and stonechucker.

It's got little to do with the weather that some people around here don't wear protective gear, I was commenting on your general togetherness !! You all looked very well prepared and an altogether styly bunch

We don't smell very good though. Wait 'til we get smell-o-vision digital cameras. Then you'd wish you'd never even seen us.
