    KB Geek Night (AUCKLAND)

Who would be keen on some BF1942/Vietnam multiplayer sometime? I'm thinking either we all go to the same netcafe, or perhaps we could set up a server and have a weekly event? I would play BF2 but it means i have to go into town as the CD keys at the place i currently go to are all fucked.

Just looking for an indication, current prefered location is TOPGUN@NET in wairau park due to parking, and the possibility of me being able to book up to 20 decent spec comps.

    Suggestions of place/time are welcome.

If someone is able to score us a dedicated host then perhaps we could do an Auckland vs Wellington, or North vs South.... or maybe just a free for all join a team and have a play.

    Talk...

online gaming... rather than playing the computer, lots of people join a server and play each other, adds to the realism and gameplay.

The line of games i am referring too involve re-enacting if you will, battles of WW2, Vietnam, and in the case of BF2, modern war.

Each strategic point on a map has a flag, and the goal is to capture all the available flags (eg hold the strategic points) and to do so you shoot your enemy etc and defend your ground.

The good thing about these games is that you dont just run around shooting, you can also drive tanks, APC's, landing boats, fixed gunner positions, aircraft, ships etc... and many of the vehicles have multiple control points so for instance you could drive a tank and have a friend in the gunner seat, or a plane and have a tail gunner, etc etc... its all comes down to being really good fun.

I don't have BF2 but have BF1945, would be keen or even Counter Strike just against other Kbers, I have a lot of games on my computer, but I don,t think my com has enough grunt for BF2.
Why would you ride that long and that gnarly stuff if you don't have to, Its what we do, we love it.

I've got fullspeed upload with interleaving off, and might be able to host 3x3 CSS tourneys on a box that I have lying around

Or just some Zombie CS Source Link

Join the Army, they have some good realistic games, and get this you get paid to play them.

How much? Wirau park would be easy as, but I'm such a noob I won't bother if it's like $50 or something. Can we drink beer at the same time?

Cool! Topgun would suit. Not that I live anywhere near Wairau Park, but going over the Harbour Bridge is always fun.

Its $10 for two hours, $2 bond on their little card thing that you give back at the end and get your $2 back... may be able to arrange a group discount.

Dont worry about skills... i will give you some tips if you show up.

Their net connection is good so will probably host a game from their and post IP address on here.

BF1942 is best, for the reason that oldguy stated. I dont mind playing CS either, but i like the variety of BF1942 more.

Doc- I can crash planes, and get killed in this game, then wait 5secs and do it again... i dont care if they army pays me - i wont be getting back up again after being shot in the head by my mate in real life!

I would be keen if you did BF1942. DC is a great version as well.

BF1942 is still the best, imho. My favourite mod was Forgotten Hope...

DC is fun as well. But standard BF1942 rocks for the air combat.
