1988 FZR400 For Sale - Make an offer!

    MAKE AN OFFER!

Bike for sale, as is where is. Needs to be picked up from Wgtn

This bike is going to cost me waaay to much money to fix. Its currently sitting in a bike shop in Wgtn. They have done a cylinder leak down test and cylinders 1 and 4 arent working at all. The shop cannot confirm whether its a burnt ring or valve. Either way its gonna cost me too much money, that I dont have. I cant confirm what if any other problems this bike has, but I can confirm it has a brand new O ring chain, the tyres on it are pretty good and its kind of OK cosmetically. Though the fly wheel cover was covered in knead-it when I bought the bike and there are obvious signs of "straightening".

Best offer by Weds 9th May gets the bike.

Please text/call me on 027 668 7628 or alternatively email me on helen.pasco@gmail.com

    Well that sucks....

Helen is a good person and I say we have a 'fix - hels - bikeathon'

I'll chip in some $$ for parts / beer and we can use our garage and bbq if needs be. Any clever pricks good at top end jobs on old FZR's out there?

Come on folks - surely it can't be too hard? Or can it?

Send a PM to Delboy on here,he used have heaps of FZR400 bits & pieces, including motors, frames etc, having raced one for years,I think he had cornered the market for spares
If he doesnt,he could pass on who else can help fix it!!

Not a silly idea Paul. TeamCudby (Mike) may be able to help with parts/info etc. Tis one of these he raced and has just sold
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

If you've put that much in already, then depending on what is to do, it might be a better option to finish it and know what you've got, than to risk repeating the process with another??

    yes I agree with Msters
You could just be buying more troubles, depending on what you buy * how much you spend

Yeah, I know. But ive now been bikeless since Easter and have lots of time to think about my options. It seems that every time I fix the bike something else just seems to happen!...The bike is for sale. Im not sure yet if or when i will replace it but i am thinking of getting something newer and more reliable. Id still love an SV650....

    Bugger about the bike hel....

But as said, people are more than happy to help.

at least let someone pull the top end off. It'll take an evening to find out what is wrong, and you never know what it could be. it may be something silly like incorrect valve clearance.

I'll take up pauls idea of doing the top end. I know my way round a spanner pretty well, and ive done quite a few 4cylinder top ends now..

    The offer is there.

Yeah, ive thought about that too... Dont want to fix the bike and then sell it as I just know another problem will appear. I just dont feel right selling it as a "running" bike, cause I cant really guarantee that.... It has issues and it would just be mean to sell it to some unsuspecting person!
