I thought that he is still guilty of the crime, 3 times convicted or something. The privy council, hasn't said he is innocent just that some of the evidence is shonky and I think they suggested a retrial. So normally if you are banged up waiting for a trial after killing 5 people you don't usually get bail. Once this is sorted out KB'r can sort out the Scott Watson affair. The Privy Council quashed his conviction. That means he has the same status as somebody charged with an offence -- which is why he has been released on bail. The Crown is yet to decide whether or not there will be a retrial.

Compensation......giving him 1.3 million in one go seems a bit reckless.....surely he should just receive a yearly compensation based on what he was earning, future earnings etc and be given a house plus any jud icial compensation.
If innocent he is entitled to get a currency payback for lost years but he is exposed to the lottery fever and could just blow it or he could be exposed to leaches after his money.

The privy council did not find any fault at all with the original trial and the verdict reached by the jury. The key issue is around new or additional evidence brought in by the defence at the appeal stage - the appeal court decided that it would not have affected the original juries decision, and it is this that the Privy Council has decided is wrong.
