The red one above has a point Zukinny... If youda drunk it then there wouldna bin a problem
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

My daughter had a few friends around for a few drinks (most drank non alcoholic drinks, but some of the boys brought a few beers)
Anyway they had a good time and left and whatever time in the morning.

I noticed about 5 stubbies of beer in the lounge, so I put them in the fridge (Cheers ), then the following weekend he called up my daughter and asked for the beer back, in which she gave them to him

So I duely told her that that is rude of him to do that, and told her that if she ever went to a party to leave whatever she had left over.
Then she said that isnt what normal people would do, so we had a bet!!

If was a discussion all in good fun and at the same time teaching these youngins some old fashioned hospitality

Hell mate, how old is your daughter and mates??

I'm 18 and round here, if you have a party, everything goes in the fridge at the begining to stay cold. you take what you want of whatever yu want - so long as you dont drink heaps more than u brought. If its a good night, there shuld be none left. IF there is, its the hosts, no doubt about it. They looked after the mess and all the assosiated crap with partys, so thats bugger all in payment.....

also this method means you can have variations on your drinks...not just the same drink over and over....

OK different scenario to what I was thinking. In that case (maybe coz I'm my generation) I'd say you were right, what was left behind was fair for your taking. The other guy was rude to ask for it back in my view and its stretching the hospitality at your house a long way.

Jay, good to see for a young fellah you think like us old codgers.
    Cheers

You dont know me very well then do you Dave Lobster

What you dont know is the beer fridge that I have, with all my drinks in it to drink at my disposal, that is locked up to stop others drinking it, and in the shed where it belongs next to my bikes and tools

Swings and round-abouts here. One of the advantages of having a party is the booze thats left over. Sure, if you take a tray of beers and puke after only drinking a dozen then dropping by the next day is allowed. But to expect they will be there a week later is rude. Anyhow, how would you know which ones are yours, unless you bring Waikato to a jaffa party !!!
If you can't be a good example, be a horrible warning

Yep, I agree with Jay EXCEPT.................. If it's a really shit party and you got conned into going so "the right kind of people & their friends" are there. Take your booze 1). To have an actual party somewhere decent and 2). To send the message that it was shit. So I suppose to answer the very first question it is rude (same again, a few beers for the night after you've cleaned up after the party/wash breakfast down is not much really, if you think a stash of beers is worth it, tell me when the parties at your place!!) For him to call first then come get them, not done! If your gone, they're gone too. See ya!

    No, its your (her) loss
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

The few quiets i decide to have during the week are courtesy of people who have left them behind. Therefore, i'm happy to return the favour when getting pissed at someone elses place.

    personally

realy depend on how i feel, i sometimes take what i have not drunk home or leave it there, but if you leave it there, you are leaving it for the hosts, and can not go back week later asking for it back, thats just form.

I think if you go to a party, you leave the drink behind the majority of the time for the hosts to enjoy. They probably paid for other things to hold the event, so it's kinda like giving them something as a thanks for having me.

If they don't drink your particular brand, I guess it's okay to ask if they'd mind if you took the leftovers (if they're just going to sit around collecting dust).

    {dries eyes}
Anything still there after the door hits you where the good lord split you is for the cleanup crew.
Why else would you host a party?
Why else would anyone help you clean up after a party?

It has only been since the turn of the century it has been acceptablet to take unfinnished grog from the party.
Until then it was considered poor form to bring cheap piss or to drink just your own. It was strictly honour system you know what you brought take whatever is at the front of the fridge or bar that cost the same or less than what you brought.
I feel kind of sorry for those people who wander round a party with a box of booze and never go anywhere without it in case someone else wants one.

    The real question here is.

How old is your daughter, and is she fit?

Bloody kids, wouldn't surprize me if they cleaned yours up prior to asking for theirs back.

If they were polite and took their shoes off when they came to pick it up, you'd probably notice they'd stolen your socks too while they were at the party.

The worst part of this story is that I wouldn't be able to survive as a young fella flatting now because we used to throw a party whenever the supplies were getting low and that would keep us going for another week or two.

Yeah and when you run out of groceries two weeks before your student allowance starts invite more people call it a barbeque and tell everyone to bring a plate.

Starts 2 hours earlier but scares the neighbors just as much.
