Wellington: 11th Sep: Basic Motorycycle Maintenance Course

    Message from Lynda Blair:

"TSS Motorcycles are running another of these great courses, with Barry Gilbert, the head Motorcycle Mechanic Tutor from Wgtn Polytech.

It's this Saturday, 11th September, at 10.00am at TSS, 421 Cuba Street, Alicetown, Lower Hutt.

It will last for a couple of hours, depending on the questions/feedback.

    Cost is $15 per head.

Please give TSS a call (ph (04) 569 3989) if you'd like to join in. They will accept "turn up on the day" attendees, but it helps them to know how many are coming.

Hamish and I (plus quite a few other KBers) attended the last course, and it was really worthwhile. It's very basic, but it never does any harm to remind yourself of tbe basics!

Barry is a very hands-on and practical guy, it'll be a very entertaining morning as well as educational!

I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

    Lynda"

    HEY!!!!

I offered to do it for nothing.... Of course I will 100% make sure it's worth what you paid as well!!

Nah! Just kidding!! Good on this bloke. $15 spent now will save you thousands (and maybe your skin) later. If you are unsure about your bike, take up TSS's offer. It sounds a brill idea and an utter bargain considering what a mechanic charges by the hour!!

Christ. In fact!!! I think this is such a good idea, If you are young and/or broke and can't afford $15 to do it. I will offer to sponsor someone into it! ie Give you the wretched $15.

All entries PM me today by midnight. I'll draw the lucky winner and must be able to pick up the dosh from me tomorrow lunchtime. PLEASE!! No smartarse older and / or wealthy people. Offer is for hard up dudes/gurls on beat up learner bikes OK!

I must go visit this shop. They sound depressingly sensible.

I never thought it would be this hard to give away $15.

I'd just spend it on petrol... and I'm in the same boat as Blakamin as far as bike maintenance goes...

come on you biker newbies - one of you must want to learn some more about maintenance!
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Perhaps you ought to go! It's not really supposed to come apart daily. Even my Guzzi does better than that!

I pull it apart for fun!
like lastnite when i pulled the can off to hand polish it
and tonite the top fairing will be coming off to fix the intermittent "one headlight off" problem.

How bout sending the SR owner??? mind you, he prolly knows it all after the rebuild of his bike!

    Fun? I remember that!!!

SR is ready to go back to the owner. It's rockin' and rollin'..... (despite the predations of previous owners)

Someday we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.

    Wink

Is anyone going to this from Welly?

I've, ahem, blinded myself in one eye. I'd rather ride my own bike there, and by tomorrow I may be totally fine, but right now it hurts like buggery so figure I should maybe check if there's any chance of a lift..?

jazbug5 - I can only get out there on the scoot as my husband has our 4-wheeler so can't offer a ride, sorry. I'm definitely going though as have just called Richard at TSS & put my name down.

Richard asked how I knew about the course & I dobbed you in Matthew!

Know what you mean Blakamin. I reckon my bike has been dismantled at least once a week since June. The constant process of getting it "just right" after throwing it down the road...

except this once where i had to pull it apart at lunchtime at work coz it kept cutting out on the way there (riding down the road banging on the guages kept it going). turned out to be a stuffed pin in the ignition connector. fixed it tho.

oh wait... that was this morning

You know mate. I'm starting to wonder if this swap was too good an idea... How often did you have to work on the zeal?

Well, can't say it surprises me ... you did buy a Honda after all
