What did you do for a crank?
for the crank we have made a new longer pin and are going to add malory to the counter weights on the crank to balance it to 50%. we also have had new cam chain sprockets made to take the two chains now required.
Couldn't you use a SV650 engine with a shorter stroke?
Excuse me if this is a stupid suggestion - I'm not a techie but it seemed logical after a couple of beers....
In space, no one can smell your fart.
got to love how beers make the world a lot more straight forward (apart from the next day)
the main reason that we stayed away from a complete motorcycle engine was that they were never designed to fit into a car with things like CVs coming off and monoques around them. also finding different pistons and rods was a pain in the arse because who would be silly enough to make an engine smaller (apart from us) unless there is a class for it.
also we want to be able to package the crank straight along the car so that the drivers head is almost between the v of the heads (to shorten the car) and have a custom integral gearbox out the back with our own ratios and quick change gear final ratio (no chains required and less weight).
Thats the smell of desire my lady..

Any updates or pictures guys??
This thing is flippen awesome!
around it!
The engine runs! We have had the engine up to 6000 rpm so far and it has in the process spectacularly destroyed two couplings that join the engine to the dyno.
The score now is engine: destroyed two CVs, a rubber donut and a steel coupling, dyno: zero!
It has been good fun to get it going, but I now need a gearbox and clutch to be designed before it can be tested more. More fun and games in my future....
Dude does it sound sweet.
I will get some pictures of the destruction soon and post them.
i wish i could get a job destroying engine bits ( other peoples) , its just so fun.
Any chance of a vid or sound clip?
"I came into this game for the action, the excitement... go anywhere, travel light,... get in, get out,... wherever there's trouble, a man alone... Now they got the whole country sectioned off; you can't make a move without a form."
Paved roads are just another example of wasted tax payer dollars.
But I don't want to post it on U tube for the world to see, is there a way I can post it here? Its a 2Mb quick time video for the sponsors
Yeah, you should be able to put it on the same way you put pics on![]()
i have tried and it won't let me, any other ideas? can i email someone that runs the kiwibiker site to put it up for me?
