    Unhappy TL1000s Rear suspension problems

I believe I have a problem on my TL1000s.. I suspect rear suspension problems, unfortunately I haven't had a chance since friday to have a good look over the bike... and I need some advice please

Anyway, here's the problem.. when riding to and from work on friday, the bike definitely felt different, it handled differently and sure as hell tried to kill me on the way home (or it was politely telling me something) it feels like it doesn't have any dampening (if that makes any sense!). It was handling great on the ride to and from Whangamomona... well anyway from work on friday heading into eltham there's a few nice corners but with some dips and bumps.. so heading around the corner midway I'm in one of the shallow dips then into a bump and another dip.. well the bike didn't like it at all and freaked me big time and nearly threw me.. well anyway I took the rest of the trip (60km's) home very cautiously!!

I'm not sure if the bike actually has a problem or that I wasn't in the right frame of mind to ride (which is quite possible we've got alot on but I wont go into that)..

The question is.. what can I do (or what should I be looking at) to identify if my bike has something wrong with it (without taking it into a shop, cuze right at this moment its not a option that I can afford - and no, if I find something wrong with it I wont be riding (I'll be push biking it instead!)) anyone have any advise please?

Oh.. and I dont have any tools to take it apart either! Nor power in the shed or work space, lights blah blah blah (hahaha!)

    help!

I suspect it may have cracked the rear damper mount........as there known to do........simple fix if it is that is to buy a Bitubo.........it replaces the seperate rear damper........it may be able to be welded but for my money the bitubo would be the best option..............

A common mis-conception is that they crack the frame.......its the mount for the rotary damper that cracks......have a close look around that area tommorow................

Hey, if its the rear damper thats failed and you need a second hand one I have one you can have for a small fee, it has done 40.000 kms, I replaced mine with an Ohlins unit.

Alrighty.. after a visit from Sensei in the weekend we had a plan of action.

Remove the rear sub-frame to allow better access to the damaged
component(s). So got into it after borrowing some tools and a light! So after a couple hours I've removed the Petrol Tank, rear Sub-frame, rear tyre and exposed the failed componentry.

First Pic: Top crack on the mount
Second Pic: Another few (It appears its been 'fixed' before)
Third Pic: Bottom (where's ya crack!)
Fourth Pic: all 3 cracks visible

    Sensei,

Talked with Suicide Rider and the plate we talked about doesn't appear to be welded to the chasis.. He may be available saturday (afternoon) depending on his work hours (and he's difficult to get ahold of as well!).

Let me know a time you are available to have a look over the bike. (and when are you able to come over and have a look at my bike?)

    Cheers

Rotary Dampner(sp?) looks fine (to my untrained eyes anyway).. its the chasis mounts for the Rotary Dampner that are rather cracked with a very small part of the bolt still stuck in.

yea looks messy............good luck with it.........if its no go consider a Bitubo as they do away with the seperate damper altogether so no need to use the mount..............FWIW...........
