What are you talking about??? There's stlill plenty of life left in that cage. It would pass a WOF alright. Probably consists of does the engine propel the cage foward and can it slow down when needed.

Quite a common sight in lots of 3rd world countries.

    Funny, but not that suprising...

In Cape Town, this would be an extreme case, but not totally unheard of. We don't have WOF's there, which makes all the difference.

There are taxis called Mini Bus Taxis, which are a very cheap form of public transport. However, they almost always are held together by string, wire and tape, and I've seen one with a spanner as a steering wheel, and a plastic drum between the knees as a petrol tank. And, think of sardines in a can as how they are loaded

Obviously not in this countery.NZ is almost uniquie in having a 6 mthly check (yeah,I know MOT checks and some states of the US) In those places you don't have to do anything to your vehicle - until you are stopped, then it's checked and repairs done to bring it back to standard.Like helmet laws,I don't think many really object when the consequences are so...um....final.

A couple more bins and my steed will likely be in a similar state of disrepair..

Typical. I should have known. Just another asian driver. I see these plonkers everyday, usualy in better cars but still the same attitude. Could not care less about any other road users other than themselves. Mind you they are not alone in this. The only good thing is he is not driveing here. But the way this county is run I wonder how long it will be berfore his rele's send for him.

I agree that this guy is a fool, my friend that sent me the pics remarked "Makes me proud to be a Malaysian.."

I think the issues we experience in NZ however are due to a large number of asian students comming here to study and learning to drive at the same time.

Car's are prohibitively expensive in cities like Singapore, so mum and dad don't think much when their son says he needs $30,000 to buy a car in NZ.

Because of this we get the bad combination of teenage guys learning to drive in 200+kw sports cars.

Mum and dad aren't about to keep a check on them, and I don't know of any teenage boys that wouldn't want a evo 8 as their first car..
