    Edwards back to WSBK?

Looks like Frankie Chili will be on a Honda next year , possibly with Edwards as a team mate?

I watched the highlights on the telly last night. Chili was doing very well on the older 998 against the newer 999's.

It doesn't seem as if Edwards has had the support he deserves in MotoGP so we hope if he goes back to WSB it is done properly.
    Cheers

I think if anyone goes back, it will be Bayliss - it is sounding increasingly like his time at Ducati is over (there were reports of someone like Checa being lined up at the weekend).

Edwards isn't doing as well as he'd like, but given where he is in the pecking order, I think he is doing a good job. Trouble is, where else do you go in GP? Aprilia can't get the bike right, Kawasaki are a real mess, Proton? Not the place for someone going places, is it? Yamaha? Outside of one Valentino Rossi, no-one else can make the bike do it. Suzuki? Rumour has it the GP effort will be much better, but I think they've already lined up their rider roster.

And I won't even mention WCM...

Of course, if Edwards does go back, I can't see it being with Honda. But as the other 'Big 4' look to be coming back in there, maybe he could hook up with Yamaha, do a good job there and who knows? Maybe get brought in as Rossi's team-mate in a year or so?

I heard tell Ducati are VERY unhappy about this. Chili had a 999 and could not get on with it. So he switched back to the 998 and is doing much better (his team so fair enough).

But Ducati have been putting pressure on him to move over to the 999 - it is embarassing to have such a high profile rider doing much better on the old machine... to the point they have allegedly ordered the other Ducati-backed teams not to sell or loan any components to Chili's team.

yeah, I think I read a similar article. Chili is subsequently getting highly (and publicly) ticked off at Ducati for the lack of parts which is especially embarrasing because he is the top Italian rider in Superbikes and is such a likable guy that he has a massive italian fan base... all of which are likely targets for Ducati to sell bikes too.

Only thing is Chilli isnt alone in complaioning about the 999, his main complaint is lack of feel from the front end, both Hodgson and Xaus both complained but because they were way out front not alot was done about it. Chilli has a 250 style and pushes the front hard and hasnt really felt comfortable with the Pirelli tyres and his style. Apparently he bought a Troy Bayliss replica 998 street bike (theres one for sale at Casbolts!) and built up his own race bike. Its not as if Laconi and Toseland have been finding things that easy either, seems the 999 has a few flaws. When Ducati release the V4 MotoGP replica street bike will this be eligble for WSBK?

While team PSG-1 are looking at running Kawasakis next year, it doesnt mean Chilli will be on one, he has been talking with the team Renegade who are looking at running Hondas next year. Current Renegade rider Nori Haga seems to be returning to Yamaha on an R1 with maybe Kevin Curtain as a team mate. Yes, Ten Kate will run two CBR1000's next year with Vermuelin and Muggeridge, Broc Parkes to race the 600. Alstare Corona Suzuki are also likely to be back next year.

I'd expect Gregorio Lavilla will return, he has been testing the GSVR and maybe a Japanese rider? Wasnt there a wildcard Japanese rider on a GSXR1000, havent actually heard, though.....
Whatever happened to the deal Andrew Stroud was putting together to race a Cat Racing sponsered GSXR1000, to race a seasom in BSB then into WSBK?

Ten Kate will run 4 bikes next year, Two superbikes and two Supersports. Chris and Karl will be on 1000rr, and Broc on 600rr. There is a vacant spot for supersports, and Honda are pushing Ten Kate for a Japanese rider. Gerrit Ten Kate has a soft spot for Aussies though (and Kiwi's)..... I know this cos I was at Ten Kate on Monday..... by the way the racing at Assen was awesome.
