I sort of went off F1 by the end of the 80's - got just too much money and hype.
A lot of the Tasman series cars in the later 60's were F1 cars - Lotus 49s and BRM V12's - mmmmmm
GPL - a great game - still play it with all the updates, plus the 1965 & 1969 add ons - and all the extra tracks- Wigram, Levin and Ardmore for NZ, IOM, Bathurst and Dundrod are great as well.

I to am bumbed at Tv1 for not continuing the coverage.
We (me an my sons) used to get up middle of the night have a junk food feed and watch the F1. Great family bonding.

Just a faint hope someone here might know a site we can get Free F1 like the site that has the moto GP for download a few days later.
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

I can relate to the cutting-edge part of it, those engines are like highly stressed (probably drugged-out) drunken goddesses who want nothing more than a good 'flogging'...but....it's all become a bit of a procession hasn't it? Tall poppy syndrome I suppose, like in drag racing, Tony Shumacher and John Force held court for so long I switched off. However, hats off to them for getting there and holding off all-comers.

As they say; it's tough at the top.

I was part of a motorsport team that made it to the top in our class several times, staying there was quite a different matter, so to those who DO stay there, I applaud you; it would, however make things more interesting if new blood had some balls, with some money to pay for said balls.

    PS: Rossi's a freak

We are doing fairly well with our own troops too. Halliday in the A1-GP, ex-pat Kiwis Dixon and Downing in the US, Dixon in Indy cars, Grant Downing running fours in the Silver Fern Racing nitro Funny Car, Coppins on the dirt, Hogan/Martin/Rea on Bonneville, the list goes on. If we had the population base of the USA we'd conquer the world in pretty much everything.

As it stands we're not looking too shabby in the boats either.

When's Dixon going to come and race in proper cars? Or is he over the hill now? It seemed when I was growing up everybody was talking about how he was using IndyLights as a stepping stone to Formula 1, and then they changed their minds and started talking about how Indy was a stepping stone to F1... and he's still racing in that boring old loop-the-loop thing.

He'll move to F1 if and when he can bring enough sponsorhip $$$ to which ever team is interested in him. You don't honestly think top level motor racing is about who the fastest driver is, do you?

I dunno, I think that's mainly applicable in the smaller teams. Once you get to the budgets of teams such as Ferrari, Toyota, Honda et al, that sponsorship money becomes less relevant. Of course, Ferrari and Toyota (at least this season) are two of the better teams, and are unlikely to hire any newbie driver. Honda's a different story right now.
