Where is the best place to do dirty work on my bike?
Things like cleaning the chain, which drips horrid black kero on to my driveway / garage.
Spraying degreaser on some dirty oily bits of the swingarm then washing off, also leaves my driveway looking like arse.
Whats the solution? I tried putting a large piece of cardboard under the bike, which works OK whilst cleaning the chain, but anything else just washes off the card too.

At my last plase I made a little rock garden. Rake the rocks aside do the dirty work then rake them back into place.

I usually go to the St Lukes Washworld. I load up the top pack with cleaning materials, and hook my rear stand around it and then put the bike on the stand there to do all my gritty stuff.
The good part is that you can use the wash cycles to do wheel cleans and water blasting and maybe the waxing.
take a bucket too, as you can fill it with water there and use it to do a hand clean.

I put newspaper down, much more absorbent than cardboard, so the shite doesn't get away from you.
I was very careful with this when doing my chain the other day, until I started it up in gear on the centre stand to check the chain alignment was running OK, and now the block wall next to the garage has splatters all over it lol.

Ok easy fix for all of you out there with a dirty oily stained drive.
Use a water soluble cleaner and not a solvent based one and before you start to clean make sure the whole area is wet and then just go for it. I do it on my drive and have no stains at all as it just gets emulsified into the water.
I personally reccomend a product called "Simple Green "and its useful for brake dust and grease and even kitchen benches (so you can buy it as a houshold item and sneak it to the garage ) . Pak-N-Save and stuff have it and so does Repco and the like.
