Thanks a million everyone who's answered.
Protection is important as I had an off last year and was almost paralysed (fractured spine / broken ribs / broken hand) thanks to a 'dis' organised Honda trail ride (avoid Granville Button in Canterbury) - Ive been wearing 'seal skin' socks on the inside of Alpinestar tech 6's, they are waterproof but almost impossible to walk in.
So thanks for the advice all, really handy to get some info from users rather than the local bike shop assistants who are keen to sell thier own grandmothers shoes to make a quick buck!
try rik at lifestyle-imports.co.nz couple of styles waterproof and comfy afordable $170-$225 from memory
Hello officer put it on my tab
Don't steal the government hates competition.
+2 for the Stylmartin "Stylsafe" - cannot fault them yet, apart from the cost.
Also heard good things about the Sidi Canyon and the boots made by Sidi for www.riderwarehouse.com (Combat Touring Boot/Combat Lites).
....and you really should have a look at the Daytona websites.
I've been in a pair of theirs, Travelstar GTX for three years, had 'em resoled for postage costs only, and I've spent the weekend at the BSB/WSB/Moto GP/Rallies and meets with them as my only footwear.
They've toured Canada to below 15 degrees on the prairie, and are my day to day boot through the summer.
They're only mid range boots, and for the extra protection, Daytona also do the boot in a boot ones, but I can't remember the name.
Comfy from the off, and my UK size 12 feet don't even fit in Sidi or Alpinestars, the arch behind my toes fell years ago.
