Ah...border collies can be a bit "special". Most other breeds like German Shepherds are too sensitive for that approach. We had a psycho border collie that didn't really respond to "normal" treatment.

best thing to do is try and get rid of the crap and put resolve on the area that it crapped in. If they can't smell it then they won't think that is where they are supposed to go toilet.

One thing to remember is that cats don't eat where they crap .. so if you need to discourage toileting habits - after cleaning the area feed them biscuits there.

Not wanting to be a broken record here but...........doing it once then carrying my Border outside straight-away taught him not to shit inside.......and hes not confused and his sense of smell is fine...........his nose in a pain in the arse.....xcuse the pun........he uses it to turn on the touch lamp beside the bed........

2 oclock in the morning the damn light goes on and theres a bloody dog staring you in the face with a tennis ball sticking out of his gob..........."time to go to the park".........not...actually maybe thats the confused part.............
