I had already said that I was looking at bikes for when I move to my full licence and upgrade... I dont think he got that bit!!...
One of the guys I was there with, doesn't own a bike or have a licence... however the guy at the bike shop didnt try show him any 'learner bikes'... Totally sexist!

I told my mum when I got home this afternoon and she said that its not uncommon... when she was looking to buy dad a new ute... she had the same issues... she stated that she wanted a 'late model XR8 ute that wasnt brand new but still under warranty with a canopy'... most of the car dealers were pricks because she's a woman & was looking for a fairly costly 'ute'... she ended up getting dad a mint silver XR8 Boss from one of the nice guys... the others lost out on the sale just for being rude and undermining to a woman.

I just felt like sharing my story cuz it kinda pissed me off... I wont be going there when I get my full and have cash in hand!!

When you get your full, and have the cash go back to those sexist shops inquire about the same or similar bikes if you get the 3'rd degree again wave your money around and walkout, It would be great to watch them chase you down the road and grovel hahaha

Very much depends on the bike, mind. Some bikes are pretty over priced 2nd hand, when you can get a brand spankme new one for a couple of grand more. An example that immediately springs to mind is an SV650 - brand new at $10,995, maybe even haggle a little extra like a free can or something. You get the benefit of a nice looking odo reading less than 10, a full factory warranty, usually a couple of other perks as well... such as every time you go back in that shop, you're loved long time because you bought new off them. Any time you feel like test riding something else they've got in stock, you'll have a much higher chance if you've bought a bike off them in the past. You know that it hasn't been thrashed, it's all yours to break in and make your own. Still costs that extra $2k-ish more than a used one, though.

Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

Yeah, damn right. $8495 for a 1991 ZXR250? Fucking, whatever. Those bikes are quite old, condition notwithstanding, and they're asking the same sort of money as they ask for a much newer, much more powerful bike. $8495 would easily buy you a 2005 CB900 Hornet from a dealer, not to mention the huge selection of decent 1998 - 2003 sportsbikes available for around that kind of money. But we all know 250s are stupidly overpriced because of NZs licence system, and 400 sportsbikes are stupidly overpriced because they're sought after.

I'd go to a dealer for a new or near new bike, and would be haggling on price. Anything else, forget it, I'd rather put up with the hassle of buying privately to save quite a lot of coin.

Ive been to motohaus a few times, n yeah kerry is a nice guy. Ex gets bike serviced there etc.

It was a spontenous trip to the shop today (hadn't been there before), quite dissapointed at how judgemental he was.
Come to Wellington and buy a Triumph 675 or GSXR600 off Crasherfromwayback. Pete's a good bastard and you won;t have to put up with any of that sexist crap, plus you'll have the bike run in by the time you get home.

    My 2cents
Work out what you want to spend, work out what bikes you like and what features you are looking for.

When asked what you want tell them, be up front honest and arrogant if needed. No help from the sales person? ask to speak to the manager, when talking to the manager ask the sales person to stay there and listen to what you have to say, It takes balls to do this but when you do, you WILL feel better and maybe just maybe they will learn a lesson in customer service, with out you the customer, they have no business.
If you don't get the help you need then walk out. I've had many experiences like you have had I now do this rather than vent on a website that wont fix the problem, even though it does make you feel better now (no offence)
For all you know you might change something so no one else gets the same service as you have received.

As for the other problems you had, if a sales person talks to your Bo like hes special, wait till he thinks that hes out of ear shot but isn't say to your Bo, "Wow equal opportunity employer who employs special needs staff isn't that nice dear" I wonder what is wrong with him?? then when he/she comes back treat them like a special person, slow down your speech, talk louder etc...
