    Angry Accosted when parking!

Ok well it's not quite as dramatic as it's sounds but...tonight one of my gal pals (Pip) invited me out for dinner and decided to go to a new Thai Returant in Tawa (where she lives). She parked her car on Oxford St outside the Oxford St Fish'n'Chip shop. Once we had both got out of the car a man started shouting at Pip saying "You move you car, no park here!", she replied "But it's parking 60!" He just kept on ranting about how his customers can't get parks etc, etc. Pip (much to my dissapointment) shifted her car! While she was shifting it I checked the sign and sure enough it was Parking 60! I said to the chap, "That's parking 60", then the rant started again "No, parking 10 or 20. No room for my customer...blah, balh, blah!" My parting comment was "Complain to the council b/c she is allowed to park there!" He gave me a really filthy look.

I couldn't believe though! He just started shouting at Pip straight away - not even a polite "Excuse me can you please move your car." Of course if it had been me I would have told him to go get knotted but Pip was worried about their car.

Btw - the Thai place was lovely but remember to avoid the crazy man at Oxford St Fish'n'Chips. Actually avoid the whole shop b/c apparently their chips are gross too!

Yes Pip & I are both going to complain!

    Yeah, definitely complain!

What a moron Some people are just agressive by nature, it's just a pity they seem to find "us" every so often. Unfortunately, like you said, if you ignored him it's quite possible you'd come back to a few extra scratches grrr...

Well, if it's any consolation, I'll never go by his stinking chips hehe

    erm...?

How did he know you weren't coming to his shop? Would be rather funny if you park there to go buy some fish n chips, and get screeched at by the self appointed parking warden

    What a nutbar!

Probably for the best that she did move her car, in case he'd done something silly like put a battered fish under the windscreen wiper or some hot chips up the exhaust.

I'm not sure what the council could do about this, other than telling him to stop being a dick.

However it wouldn't stop anyone removing the P60 signs, making it unlimited duration parking. Now that should have the proprietor slutted!
We're all fucked. I'm fucked. You're fucked. The whole department is fucked. It's the biggest cock-up ever. We're all completely fucked.

Yes I think that may be his job! He waited until we had both got out of the car and walked past his entrance way.

If I didn't live thousands of miles away, I'd come and join in!

Definitely needs a bunch of bikes to all park up together outside his shop.

One thing I would say - don't leave the bikes alone. Someone that unbalanced might well do something stupid like push them over.

It would be worth the price of (one) bag of chips though - make sure one of you is more or less 'in plain clothes' (ie. bike jacket that'd pass for normal, jeans over boots) and have the rest of you look after their helmet.

Then that one person goes into the shop, leaving all the others outside.

Then, when the looney starts screaming (IF he does!), the one person buying the one bag of chips can wander out, seemingly unaware of what is going on, smile sweetly at the looney and say "These nice people were looking after my bike while I bought some chips from you - wasn't that nice of them?"

And then spit out a chip as it is awful and throw the rest in the bin - after telling him (and the bunch of 'new friend' bikers) how bad they are of course!

    --------------------

This reminds me of something that happened in a pub in England. Landlord didn't want bikers coming in, so he put up a sign "No leather clothes". So in comes biker and his girl - and are told to hand over their leather jackets.

So the next night, a bunch of them went in - landlord points to 'No Leathers' sign and demands their jackets.

So girl points to her leather trousers and says "Do I have to take them off as well?"

Landlord says yes, not wanting to back down.

So girl takes them off... to reveal a leather thong. "Do you want me to take THAT off as well?" she asked, smiling sweetly.

    The sign was taken down.

Bullies like this can't handle it when it is thrown back at them - but the best way to do it is like above - make them look stupid in front of others.

Good luck with teaching this fool a lesson.

What a wanker. We hardly ever go to Tawa, but should we be there one day and feel like fish'n'chips, we'll not be buying from that shop.

Damn wish I was there,I'd come along too.
I had a similar thing happen on AKs Queen st one day while I was visting my brothers shop.I parked bike(My Sportster)facing the road, after I came out of the Bro's shop which is in an arcade,I was warming the bike up a bit when this stuck up clown came out of his shop on the corner of the arcade an started bleating and basicly telling me to fuck off.So I spent a couple of minites cranking it right up,what a beautiful sound,Then a few days later I bought half my club down there and we made as much noise as we could.
Fuck it, he could of been just a little polite about it an I'd of said "no worrys mate".

I was very tempted to ride back down there on my bike after we'd had diner but I was a little nervous that the psycho bloke might push it over.

Maybe we should have our next KBer dinner at the Thai Resturant round the corner and all park there! He'd be spitting blood!

Hmmmmm - I'm not quite as physically confident as you appear to be NC30_chick but maybe you can come with me next time so I can see you in action.

Both Pip & I wrote emails to Wellington City Council, not that I think it will do much but if you do nothing then nothing changes! But I'm serious about having our next KBer dinner at the Thai place and all parking outide the f'n'c shop, then we can shift in an hour (to ensure we're not breaking any parking laws) and come back around and all park in different spots outside the f'n'c shop again
