Since I was 18 there has been one non negotiable condition for getting a second date (except during the period I had no bike, six worst years of my life) they have to come to the first date on the bike.

Sorts the wheat from the chaff.

Work hard, Play hard... sometimes I won't get rides in for weeks, then I'll ride both days of the weekend (might even take a day off to ride ), sometimes several weekends in a row too.

not having an "other half" does help tho... I do what I like Sometimes tho, there is a nice ride, that would be nice to have a g/f snuggled up behind you... but meh, you can't have it both ways

    Brownie points

Got hitched before I got bike.Other half is good and knows I need some " me time i.e riding time".Look forward to taking her on the back as soon as I get my full license to show her what she is missing. It can be hard though finding the time, which requires family commitments, work commitments and weather to align, but then again I ride every day to work and back.

Well the kids come first, if its my week to have them, I generally dont go riding, except if I ask my mum very very nicely and the kids are ok with that. My ex owes me alot of brownie points, but not sure I will ever redeem them. He has his things he does as a hobby and nothing stops him doing it.

If its not my week with the kids I'm off.. (unless I am looking after them that is)

Its good to have something else in your life you enjoy, and time out from everything, I just like being on my own riding when I can, but most of my free time is still spent with the kids.

When the kids have four legs and whiskers you can ride anytime as long as they get fed in the end. Grub and I have no ties to home though I still have family duties in Wellington and he occasionally in Auckland ... but as we both love to ride, we do it when we can.

Family always comes first, so I went without a bike for years. Now they have gone, I ride more or less whenever I like.
Experience......something you get just after you needed it
