Blame Oprah! Isn't she the one that legitamizes all the weak-ass excuses for lazyness, slothfulness, and all other behaviour that avoids personal reponsibility?

It all goes back to the "ant-smacking" mentality. Kids grow up with no respect for authority, and there's all those PC activists and their " rights of the individual" bullshit. So, a boy-racer can exercise his "right" to speed but if
he crashes while being chased by the police, it's not his fault. In their twisted way of thinking, if the police had backed off, or not persued, the boy-racer would not have panicked and lost control of the car.

"But he was breaking the law" you might say. "That's his right to do so" would be the reply.
