I voted for the Glaciers. Been a long time since I've been down that way. Now where can I get some steel spiked tyres?

    Sounds like a reasonable proposition.

I'm keen to come along this year. I voted Staging Post, but if that doesn't win I'm still keen.

I am also of the opinion that The Staging Post would be my first choice, but I would be happy to go to any of them. I set the poll up this way to see which venues would suit the most people, and it seems to be doing that. It doesn't give an overall preference though as there is no way of setting a poll to list preferences in order. I believe that once we get down to 3 clear leaders that we have a final poll of those 3 leaders, and only allow a single vote.

    The winning venue will it.

I too am in favour of the Kaikoura option as have been desireth of heading "home" for a visit since getting back on two wheels. Hey J, as a PPL would be interested in a chat some time too.

Same for me. Sad to say I don't know where any of the listed places are.... but hell, once we get a venue sorted I'll join the Christchurch crowd and ride out with them. If you lot can stand having a piddly little 250 in the mix. Us new riders need a little encouragement now and then...

    Thumbs up

Don't know where the venues are? You need to get out more, or at least get a map I sympathise with your tirade re the lack of riding buddies-bloody frustrating i know. 'id be happy to ride the port hills with you if istill lived there.
You at least have access to some great clubs and facilities unavailable to us down here (ie Ruapuna) so hopefully it will change soon- cheers

Okay okay, so I know where a couple of the places are geographically... but I'm not familiar with how to get there or the roads that lead there. That should make better sense. Yeah, I'd like to get out more... but I've never been on a ride very far away from Christchurch, as riding on the open road is a bit of a pain with my bike. Still, I've just bought myself a massive box of foam disposable earplugs (200 pairs ) that really do the business, so that should help some.

I've made a thread asking where all the Chch riders are at - it's in my signature if anyone wants to have a look and explain themselves

I was hoping you would run a second poll like that - good idea.
Theres been a bit of discussion on here about the distance and locations etc. While this is less of a problem on the way there as we could do a part way thing on Friday night, the distance is an issue for the return trip. I know this is a concern for some and they won't say anything for fear of being referred to as soft cocks etc.
Many of us need to be at work on the Monday and at that time of year there tends to be an awful lot happening (well it is for me anyway) - this means we need to ride home on the Sunday, and probably in a semi hungover state, after having a bloody good night with the KB team. For me and some others this means the middle of the island is about the limit.
If we start going northern half one year, southern half the next year then some will make it, some won't. I probably wouldn't go to the Kaikoura one at that time of year for the reasons explained, but in the autumn I could.
I'm not saying don't do a system where we move to alternative ends each time - its just that a middle locations will get a better turnout every time, and I guess there are plenty of rallys at these other spots that KB'rs can go to and meet at other times.
OK thats my pennies worth - I'll go to the gym now and carry on my hardening up exercises!!!

Mrs Oakie has just this minute confirmed her interest in this trip (if she can get time off work) so there'll be at least one other 250 there and my 400 won't be far away so you needn't feel inferior if we do the trip.

I don't care where it is... I voted for Dansey's but like the sound of all of them. I'm about 95% sure I'll be there, wherever it is.
