Have you ever seen or heard of it happening before? I assume it must've but I haven't had much luck searching for others reports/responses to it.

No and some people hang some big loads off them, if the rack has any side to side movement that will cause cracking very quickly so take this opportunity to correct this if it has movement, only takes small diagonal bracing to cure so not a biggy so DON'T hang half a tonne of steel off it to fix it.

Looks like he has a rough idea what he is doing

I think Ender Enzed's indicator bracket would be safe

I managed to mangle the plastic surrounding my headlight. Has anyone here had to replace one before (alternatives considered) ? If so could you point me in the right direction ? my google fu is weak and I'm not too keen on going to colemans again. They are nice people but if something is not in stock it can take a while for parts to appear
    cheers in advance

Yeah, shame there's no footage of it running. That video was only posted this morning.

All that work and then you lose the last 4 bolts that hold the front guard on...
I hate it when that happens

If you look closely the guard is actually mounted intentionally low, there's brackets coming off the fork legs for it.

Maybe it didn't clear the 500 motor.

I got in touch with the owner of the DR5 via Youtube and he sent me a couple of build pics.

Yeah I got that, was my feeble attempt at a joke...

Did you ask the guy "why?" when you emailed him for more pics?

    (Hope the leg heals quick)
