    Newbies' Overnighter. Kawhia 29-30 March.

Heres the plan guys n gals.Date Change To 29-30 March
    Head to Kawhia from east/sth/nth.
Taking roads that suit your skill levels, and bikes ability. Con a few old hands to be your wingmen. Kick back at a comfy bach after a BBQ and drinkies.
Wake up to a brekky organised by the old fulla's. And cruise home Sunday on a different road.
    Whadayareckon?

Will post a calender thread if a bit of interest is shown.
Work of $20 per person for food/accom. Bach will sleep about 7 inside. Room for 2-3 2man tents. Shower/Washing/shithouse etc all sweet.
Looking for at least 4-6 250cc newby's to front up.

Bach is about 5km out of Kawhia, (supplies easily available there or Oparau store up the road).
Heaps of short/long gravel roads nearby to enjoy.

    Fronting up!

Hopefully. Work/family/girl/life may conspire against me, but this sounds like heaps of fun

    Thanks Tri Boy

Yep, you know I'm always keen as for a trip like this mate. Will try and work out where Kawhia is on the map, but will most likely be there on the rattle and clank.
"I came into this game for the action, the excitement... go anywhere, travel light,... get in, get out,... wherever there's trouble, a man alone... Now they got the whole country sectioned off; you can't make a move without a form."

Paved roads are just another example of wasted tax payer dollars.

It's a bit further south of Raglan, innit? Kewl, that'll mean I get to take SH22 down on the way.

Better still, from Port Waikato, travel down :Pt Waikato Rd, Te Akau Rd, into Kauri Flat, out to hwy22 on Mangiti Rd, and into Raglan. Or turn towards Te Mata/Bridal Veil, and take Te Papatapu, and old Raglan Rd to Kawhia.
80% gravel and in pretty good nick.
Crisis Mangament, Bass, Windboy, and Dave probably know this route well.

Hwy22 into Raglan, and around the coast is another option.
"Kiwi Maps--Waikato", (about $10) will give you a good overview, or the M/cycle atlas(with less detail).

Don't forget to mention it has the advantage of being a hot water beach

    Awesome relaxing in that

A really bad map, but the pink line shows from the end of 22, out to Te Mata, and The Old Raglan Rd to Kawhia.

Raglan is at the top, and Kawhia at the bottom.

Hot water beach it is. I think we can russel up a couple of shovels for those who wish to drink plonk in a personalised tub, while watching the sunset.
Calender link is up and ready.

Hang on, some of those roads are sealed, that'll never catch on!

Best maps I have found, which include road state and names, are the AA maps available from their offices at $3.95.
They are, however, not waterproof and turn to mush in ones pocket...a bit hard to read after that!

Cool, Clints on Kitchen/BBQ duties, I'm on booze allocation, and monitoring and I'm sure there are a few kitchen hands available.
Link rd crossing maybe? Got some nice route ideas for the eastern contingent.

Link Rd, hwy30 to Kopaki, Kopaki rd to hwy4, short blast up 4 to Tikitiki rd onto hwy3, into Pio Pio for fuel. Up through Mairoa to Waipuna rd, across Te Anga rd onto Hauturu rd, and then Harbour rd around the top of Kawhia harbour, and onto hwy31 to the bach. Nice

Another shocking map, but it will give Clint an idea.

Tikitiki,Waipuna, and Hauturu would be a scenic run. Gravel on Waipuna should be have well defined wheel tracks by then.(heavy layer at the time of the WWW run).

And the final one is a suggested route for those sth of the border. (Naki and further). The waitewhena rd is the one that wasn't ridden on the WWW ride. Follows the bottom of the valley. Meet point could be PioPio.

Ohura can be easily accessed from Forgotten hwy if coming from Stratford, or Tauramanui end.

Righto, I've found Kawhia on the map, I'm in with a grin!

I'll bring my camp stretcher, that deck looks just the place to park up for the night.
