    Visual Studio .NET

Do we have any developers (VB.NET or C#.NET) out there who use visual studio.NET?
Just have a few questions regarding hooking up with web services...

ah crap... i've just exposed my geek nature....

ah well, White Trash, if you're reading this (probably not), it doesn't affect my riding ability!

True, my girlfriend has to start the bike cos i can't get the starter button all the way in, and i have problems with the upshifts - but the downshifts are ok if i move all my weight to the left and jump on the shifter.... other than that i'll take you on anyday....

Heh ok well ive had a little exp. with VB, but not VB.NET. Ive been put in charge of integrating the helpdesk app we distribute/support/customise with a 3rd party application, which has a web service there with a couple of functions to return specific data from that app. We werent allowed direct database access so .NET'ing we go!

Ill probably end up getting a contractor in to do the work while I sit with them and catch up with .NET and Visual Studio. Apparently in Visual Studio, you can connect to something to do with the available web service that shows you what functions n stuff are available? Is that correct?

Was just going to install this trial version of VS but the damn thing is a dvd and I dont have a dvd drive

    Lightbulb True

In short, yup - it's as easy as adding a web reference - you just point at the URL of the web service, VS.net creates a "proxy" class for you on the fly using the WSDL, from there on in you get full code complete, CLR type checking and blah blah blah.... if a dolt like me can do it you'll have no worries....

if you need more info... messenger me (search for Manuboy nickname)...

Tar. Yeah I should be able to figure it out, would save a few dollars on the project (assuming I can find the time!).

Have just been getting crap documentation from the customer (for this 3rd party app) and its confusing. but they gave me sample XML data with the webserver to install here so thats a start!
