CRAP!! As an apprentice builder about 5 years back I started on $8/hr. Now that was rough. Especially in a wet week when we only got 30 hours work.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.

You think you 'ad it 'ard? When I were young we had half a handful of freezing cold gravel for breakfast, worked twenty-four hours a day at the mill for fourpence every six years, and when we got home, our Dad would slice us in two with a bread knife.

Save the nostalgic whining for your grandkids, oldtimer.

Apprentice builders never got much from the start as Im told. Anyone who designs or sits behind a desk will always get payed more. Its the why of the desk people

I saw an advert for a couple of positions at one of the Bike Shops on Barrys Point Rd Takapuna a couple of weeks back, I think it was Holeshot.

Try contacting them, they may not have filled the positions.

Mind you there was one little upstart that everybody on the site gave a hammering regarding his attitude that came back recently bragging that he'd scored a job, hopefully it wasn't one of these jobs, he was quite the spoilt brat in the animity of cyberspace

Offer to whore yourself out in your downtime for 'work experience'

Do 100 hours, and see if you can score a letter of recommendation...

Failing that, I'll give ya 10 squids to chop me firewood, that ought to pay for the batteries for ya remote for ya large screen TV
