    Boot pains

Just 'aquired' a pair of Gaerne boots, very nice and heaps of support.. but hearin is the problem..

The plastic around the back that covers my ankle bone pushes in too much and is a little painful. There is a screw on each side right in the middle of where it hurts.

Does anyone know if these boots can be adjusted using the screws? Or do they just hold the plastic support on?

I have tried turning it, very hard to turn and nothing seems to happen.

Be nice if I could get them to fit perfectly as they are like $400 boots that I got for free.

Anyone got a pair of these?

Used to 'fit' combat boots by standing in a warm bath with them on to mould them.... just not sure if that would root your boots though.... are the screws metal or plastic?

um you did what to your boots?

Screws are metal, so are the threads that they go into... both on the plastic ankle support as well as the toe sliders.

I have the model older to that, never had a problem and the screws miss my ankle bones by millimetres. However, the soaking idea is out, screws the screws as it were. One of my friends tried that, very expensive mistake. The screws on my boots however I put an orthotic support in to ensure I cleared the screw, and its more comfortable anyway. Try that as an option.

Cheers for the advice, they seem to have 'softened' up through use and are much more comfortable now. The recent flurry of rain may have also helped somewhat.

The only thing that bugs me is I tuck my draggin jeans inside them, and but my armoured over-pants over the top of them. If I dont fold the jeans just right the seams create a hard spot that doesnt dig in until my feet angle just right... like 30 sec down the road... ...no biggie, just a case of folding them right!

i told ya dude, flares are out

I had that problem, figured out the 'spot' and now get it right 9 out of 10 times.
Left leg for example, fold inwards at back of leg and have seam at about 5 oclock (if your leg was a clock, which it's not cause it's a leg!). The right side is folded the otherway.

to find the spot put your foot on the ground, grab the ankle from behind (helps if your sitting down), then left your heel off the ground leaving your toes touching, you'll feel what bits expand and what don't. the inside back is where you want anywhere.
We childproofed our homes, but they are still getting in.
