Ducati Pantah 600

I've seen one of these and am getting an itchy wallet, it will be a bit of a project (as if I don't have enough to do! these old bikes are bloody addictive). I can't find much info on the net about these which is worrying for a start, even comatech don't list a gasket kit so I'm thinking all parts are going to be genuine Ducati and pricey. Can anybody shed any light on them? Engine rebuild costs etc?

The Pantah is a neat little sprotsbike, but it is an 80's Ducati... (I wouldn't mind one, though!)

Good enough wee bike. Nice handling - enough power and reasonable reliability. Expect to get expersts in belt changing, desmo valve setting and gearbox rebuilds (which get tiresome)

My brother owned one for a few years and I rode it quite often,they are a lovely little bike to ride and a absolute joy to ride on a twisty road, they tend to push the front if you're absolutely hammering them and will top out about the 180-190kmh unless you have a tail wind

Brakes are good, stock rear suspension tends to be way oversprung and very harsh

Engine wise, I cant help as in the few years he had it nothing went wrong except for the the ignition switch crapping out, the only problem I've heard of is snapping one of the gearbox shafts(where a circlip groove is) but I don't think thats a common occurence

He should advertise his 650 Pantah in the UK. I just bought an M900S and the guy gave me a brit classic bike mag with it (singing the praises of the M900S) that says they are rarer than rocking horse s__t.

I will own one of those one day. But not yet coz I can't afford to keep it running. I'm happy enough with the late 90's version.
