I could but dover might find you all. and the making of the money was theoretically to be through advertisements which could be difficult with that genre.

Advertisers will only advertise in something they think people are going to read. Given that you haven't determined either your subject matter or your audience, I don't think that potential investors/advertisers are going to come flocking.

i wasn't planning on jumping straight into the advertisers. I was gonna let it run for a month or so to see what numbers were like to see if it would be feasible.

You could just get a job? Because you are going to have to one day, unless you are paris hilton.

Go to a temp agency, work 4 hours one day a week, bam.. $40 in your pocket.

Oh, and to make a good enough publication that people will read and therefore you may get advertisers... well the hours doing that for money you MIGHT make could make you a fair bit of money you will make if you get a job

It would be best starting with something you are really into. Whats your passion, what does it for you. If its your passion you are sure to find others that share the same passion. If there are already publications published in that area of interest can you find that thing that will give you a point of difference. Good spelling is essential unlike mine, I need spell checker.
the determination to see it through the long haul. Knowing that it may be rejected or ignored or worse, your belief in it is the key to see it through.
An example is a publication I enjoy reading (though online now) HM Magazine http://www.hmmagazine.com/ a Christian Heavy Music Magazine, that started out as a photocopied hand out and is now a proper mag that has become somewhat of an authority on Christian heavy music. This has taken 20 odd years to get to this point now they even have a pod cast that is very good.
Another mag is Wheels of Grace http://www.wheelsofgrace.com/ , a mag for Christian motorcyclists though a huge Harley leaning being American but its shows what can be done if one has a passion and belief in themselves to accomplish their dream.
