    Bad day on the xjr...

g'day guys, just wondering if you guys can help.... just finished catchin up with a new friend here in NZ, and turned my '96xjr1200, went for a ride to see how it went, when the bike started to slow, and b4 i knew it, the front was locking up, and the master cylinder blew up, and the calipers blew their seals, and the left disc is blue, and i would say stuffed.... seems the master cyl return port must have been blocked.... so where could i get a set of discs.... a decently priced seal kit for the brembo front calipers my import has, also the master cylinder kit... i am shattered, this was ment to be the day that the bike was ment to be 100% ,,,, NEway, any help would be great, or advice...

    peace

    Ouch!

If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!

Yeah I was going to mention the OW01 too but since they're fairly rare... haha

Sounds like you had a case of vapour lock. How long had it been since the brake fluid was changed?

week and a half... b/c they were sticking then, cleaned out the lines, and the mastercyl, new fluid, lubed the caliper pistons... everything was ok, but.... welll, NEway, have just fitted the master cylinder and calipers off an '03 R6, they are heaps better than the brembo's i had on there b4... so am happy,... oh and the disc is fine!!!! no wobble, shudder, just straight and true....

at least something good came out of it...!!!

    thanks for the help all..

well me and the xjr are really not gettin along..... hit a van on kyber pass on monday,28th, smashed my right hand had sergury on it on tuesday, two pin and some micro, and my right knee, and shin, though they are n9ot broken, they are quit swollen, the lights were green, and the van started to go, so i looked over my shoulder to change lanes, and when i turned back he had stopped to allow traffic out of a side road!!!!!, i had enough time to wipe off most of m,y speed, but still managed to just clip the back corner of him.

i have uni exams next week, and i got a neg drivin for failing to stop....!!!..

gutted... just thought i would share.....

Mate, bad things come in three's, so just stay in bed 'til you've shit yourself, then you're safe to venture out.
Bon chance with the Uni stuff though.
The bike's due here middle of next week, so if this Indian summer keeps going, we'll pop up when she's cleared the pre road stuff.

    Bugger mate.

Heel up, and remember everything you hit will be in front of you if your going faster than everybody else.

went and had a look at the bike today, havent seen it since the accident, and all it needs is a couple of levers and a speedo backing case, and were good to go, almost no damage wotsoever.... all painted parts are great, and there is a little mark on the xaust.... super happy bout that... now to find a buyer....
