Jas's 9th June, Suzuki trackday report

Well, it was windy and cold... but it wasn't raining so the day was off to a pretty good start.

It was my first time in medium group so I was a bit worried about holding bigger bikes up, but I knew it would be safer for me then being in slow and trying to wrestle with the bigger bikes in the corners, only to have them overtake me on the straight and have to start all over again :slap:

I can't remember all the sessions as there were so many and they all seem to blur together the next day

While we were lining up to go out it was quite intimidating... there were like Gixxer 750's and even a TLR1000... and there I was on my little 150 ring - a -dinger I was really pleased after the first session as I only got passed by one bike, and even passed a bigger bike (obviously not on the straight!), so knowing I wasn't holding any one up was reassuring.

All throughout the day I was focusing on being relaxed and smooth, which didn't really work in the first few laps as I was tryin to get use to the wind. Man little bikes get blown easily!

By about the 3rd session I was scraping my knee's more and scraping the pegs less. Hehe, feels so much nicer then having the peg dig in!

By the end of the day I was feeling a lot better about corners and starting to be able to stay relaxed most of the way around the track. Still got loads of things to improve on, but they will always be there, so over all... I'm totally stoked with my riding

Thanks so much to Suzuki NZ, Kiwirider Mag, the marshals (who were there even in the freezing wind), Avalon and Keith for their help/advice and encouragement with the RG and my riding, Allen for timing me (2:01.. WOOT! Last time I was timed it was around 2:15), Addle for the pics, and every one else who made this day possible and or I can't think of at this moment

Big ups To Kelley for gettin out and havin a blast

And to Shaun Harris... my thoughts were with you most of the day, Hope ya recover quickly dude

    Hey Jas,

Didn't realise that was you!!! Man you were going well!!! You've even featured in my video, which to be honest mainly featured the bigger bikes, but I saw this little bike being ridden so well that I videoed you.... and not only that, I made sure you survived the editing when it was a bit long!! If I'd known it was you I would have left it in for sure and put your name in!!!

VERY Impressed!!! Video is uploaded to Youtube, but not available yet. I'll post the link when it's processed. Well Done!!

So you'll do 2:01s around Taupo on an RG150, but you won't ride over the Rimutakas in perfect weather?

Geeez Girl! You and Avalon are both going places in Road Racing!
Was so cool to see you going hard out in the intermediate group.

All the best for Manfield Jas. Dont worry about it being a new track. Going by how fast you learnt to ride, it wont take you long to learn it. Cant wait for the race report and see how many arses you kick!
