What about an annual KB get-together?

How about late January - early February. Or the weekend after easter. The latter date would mean we South Islanders could simply stay in the North Island after "The Mini's Return" ride.

Not a great variety of good rides from Lake Ferry.

A base further north will leave the event open to more options with respect to routes and distances over good roads. Rides could then be set to venture into the Sth Wairarapa, accross into Manawatu/Rangitikei or up into the Southern Hawkes Bay depending on weather etc.

I guess the most 'stable' weather time is around Feb-April nowdays.

Yeah Feb is out for us.....there should be a polling booth somewhere as to when is the best time for all concerned....and place. There have been some good ideas but i think 98 should put in place a vote/poll so that there can be some indication of where this is heading. The area seems settled on and thats a start.

I have been talking to the powers to be about ferry crossing's on the bluebridge service for a KB get together Once we know date's and numbers we can arrange a group booking at a special rate.....this would make it more affordable for those that travlling from the south...I cant say what the price will be yet as it will depend on numbers but it gives us something to work with

December and January are excluded for discounted fare's as even the staff pay full fare duing those months which is understandable

Hope this helps and now its up to all of us too sort out date's and venue but easter sounds like a good plan

Awsome work Dogs, thats the sort of thing that needs attending to. A show of hands right now and there should be about 6-7 going, when realistically there could upwards of 50-60 or so given the time till the intended date and when it gets that size...logistically it could be a shit load of work for someone to finalise.

Great work there dogs .. we really need to sort a date out .. do we have someone who is gonna take the lead in this one ???

I do not mind helping out where needed ... but we sure at least need a date & venue .. then a date when we need to have numbers to dogs for confirming travel & prices etc ...

I have had lunch at the pub at Lake Ferry. The weather was somewhere between interesting and impressive. It certainly got my attention.
For the Douglas Adams fans among us........I now know where the restaurant at the end of the universe is.

Seriously tho, if you are looking for somewhere in the Wairarapa, the facilities in the camp attached to the showgrounds at Carterton aren't too bad. There's a pub just down the road and a golf course just round the corner, if that's what floats your boat. There's plenty of space, reasonably priced and reasonably central.
