Ummmm, yeah this what I thought too. I couldn't go cos of having to write 12000 words (which I've done now!). I'd like the idea of Mahia but Wairarapa or Nelson are great ideas too.

No problem with that on occasion - whether the first or otherwise.

But the same argument would put Nelson or Kaikoura as about the limit in the other direction, and I think it'd be sad if the event never left the middle of the country - especially for those of us who live here - and for those at the ends who would never get a cheap one.

I'd kind of like to see a long term plan that looks something like this:
    Wairarapa/Wellington
    Canterbury/West Coast
    Northland
    Nelson/Marlborough
    Taupo/Taranaki/Hawkes Bay
    Southland
    et cetera

So it kind of cycles round; the keen people get to see the whole of the country, and most people get somewhere closeish every 2 years or so.

Seriously I dont care where it is as long as I have enough time to save up and organise things.

If you need help organising this one, let me know. Lots of welly people know the rapa as well, who could help out. (honestly they probably know alot more than I do.. esp about pubs, and wateringholes.)

    Hmmm this sounds interesting...I like.

Guna have to go to the site the loong way round- perhaps this could be a good time for a round the top of south island wander? Probably be pretty nice in February. Or head northwards and come back down. We could meet some other riders on the way???
