I think you will find that the duke's cant go any faster but the Yamaha's are improving and getting faster, so the raceing is going to get even better. I think Stoner for a 21 year old has got shear guts and determination not to let Rossi intimadate him. The Honda is not as quick yet but the Moto GP is something else what fantastic raceing good for the sport

Duke didn't have much on the M1 this race, Rossi could catch the draft behind him unlike China, and Stoner only slowly roared past on the straights when the M1 was pushing the air in the front. And like the chap said above the Duke has been stagnant whilst the M1 is catching in top speed all the time.

You raise a point, I dont know , I suspect from things I hear , The dukes have a lot of windtunnel testing and I think have good access tho the big windtunnel Pinnafinaria ???

The hondas are on the limit , ( elias engine ) and are trying to get the top end by tuning because of wind tunnel time or lack of

Could be why Yamaha teamed up with Fiat (HUGE database and facilities ( for the use of )

I can see the motorbikes going the same way as the cars ,,,huge sums spent on wind testing as they are reaching the materials limit. I mean those pistons have to be in the 20 ft per second range, ( a Norton commando was about 19 odd foot per and it was really the limiting factor of the parallel twin... )

I was a good race in that one had the power , the other had it on the brakes ( they said rossi had a new front end which allowed him more control on the brakes ,,, from america ?? interesting ,,,what did they do? )
and Pedrosa? sniffing in 3rd ,,,

Might need to watch it again ,,, For research you understand

Might be out by a factor of imperial/metric magic there mate.

    06 Yamaha R6 20.5m/s at 14,500rpm (max power)
    06 Yamaha R6 23 m/s at 15,800rpm (max revs)

    675 21.8m/s at 12,500 rpm (max power)

Raodie Compression levels of 1.58:1 ie dependable,Ducati 999 1.9:1 MotoGP 2.0:1 and FYawn 2.1:1 lots of rebuilds

    MotoGP estimates are 25 m/s

OMFG!!! What an awesome race! GP is shown at the local 'Drivers Bar' on Mondays and there was alot of "oh Oh OHH" happening in the crowd. Very stoked I got to see this one on the big screen! With the added bonus that Stoner won

For sure a great race to watch. Could have gone either way in the last few laps. I also find it kinda annoying how easily the Ducati can storm past other riders on the straight. They (the opposition) do all the hard work in the corners and then lose out again on the straights. Capirossi went from 17th to 6th FFS! But that's racing - the team who has put more into developing their machine deserves to have the edge, and I think it was Ducati who were first to stop development on the old bike and first to release the new 800cc machine. Lets just hope that the others can catch up on the development quickly and it's good to see that the gap has been reduced already!

The 125cc race was awesome too - real funny watching that guy kicking the shit out of his bike after it spat him off.
And Jorge in the 250cc race was in a class of his own - will be one to watch when he moves up to MotoGP next year.
