Looking for a Boss Hoss mechanic...

... in Auckland / Hamilton / Taupo area, am currently an expat, may be being posted back home and would bring this V8 machine with me. Would need a knowledgeable mechanic to save me crossing the Cook Strait for everyday maintenance. Thanks in advance for any info.

    It needs everyday maintenance? *chortle*
    Kidding.

Not sure why you'd need any specialised mech? It's just an engine, in a bike...

Mainly because it has transmission "'issues" from time to time... 502ci motor putting the power to the back wheel... but I have backups for when it needs an organ transplant...

Thanks people for the leads - going to be home (yayy) for holidays next week and will most certainly follow up both of them.

Yes "Miss B." is powered by a 502 cubic inch Chev big block. But the cam's standard and the head's not ported :-)))

That's not all - in a moment of sheer recklessness I had NOS added. I, uh, actually have not hit the nitrous button yet... the 502 on its own is shall we say sufficiently taxing... I fear the NOS may remain ornamental for some time...

Very nice. Now is that '502 Horsepower' on the tank just reference to the horsepower being produced by a 502ci engine, or is that somewhere near where she is at? I know a well tuned (not heavily modified) V8 will punch out around a hp per cube, so what is it?

    Oh, well, that's alright then...

PS. I know Classic Z would be interested in checking it out. He has a workshop in Whangaparaoa and does servicing on a few KB'rs bikes. Most mechanics in NZ will be familiar with the Chevy V8's.

Shorai Powersports batteries are very trick!

I haven't had her dyno'd, and I don't know the actual figure (I bought her with the existing paint).

OTOH, the official Chevy crate motor specs agree that it is one horse per inch:
    Displacement: 502 cubic inches
    Horsepower: 502 @ 5200 RPM
    Torque: 567 @ 4200 RPM
    Max. Rec. RPM: 5800 rpm
    Fuel: Premium Unleaded 92 Octane
    Bore & Stroke: 4.47” x 4.00”
    Comp. Ratio: 9.6:1

    Your Horsepower May Vary

Edited to add: another BH rider tells me a stock 502ci has run at 468hp on the dyno... seems like less loss through the driveline than I'd expect but I'm no guru...
