    JAFA newbie (PeteJ)

    Hi, all.

This is the first NZ forum I've joined, though I'm on a few bike model-specific ones.

I'm based in Auckland, but spend a lot of time in the Bay of Islands and Tauranga as well.

Been riding since well before I got my licence at age 15, and that was a lot of years ago. Still road race post classics, and have raced some pretty memorable machines.

The stable at present contains a VTR1000, XL1000V, a couple of Royal Enfields, a couple of OSSA trials bikes, early XL250, various aircooled CB Hondas of the 60s and 70s, a couple of 2-stroke Yamahas. Obviously, I have no bias toward any particular brand or type of machine: if it has 2 wheels and a motor, I'll ride and enjoy it.

I'm not really into riding on the road with groups of other people - too dangerous, too many people want to race but cannot ride well enough - but I do like to meet bike people at destinations. Luckily, we often do.

Hi and welcome to Kiwibiker (the mad house) and I certainly agree with this statement that you posted. A lot of road riders get around on the road thinking theyre heroes but won't race because theyre not very good riders and they know it

Hi PeteJ..Welcome to you. You'll have a lot of fun with the folks around here.
I've only recently joined myself, but haven't found as yet anyone I didn't like.
Your collection sounds very impressive, and I am very jealous indeed!

    Have fun....

G'day PeteJ, welcome along, enjoy the madness this place brings, know what you mean about some riders. A lot of KBers prefer to ride only with those they know and trust, just have to meet a few to find out who they are.
Feel free to come along to a party or event somewhere and say hi, some of us are often found at Bar Africa (albany) on Wednesday and Thursday nights (8.30-10ish), drop in and say g'day some time.

    Thanks for the welcomes, folks.

Yep, I know Bar Africa - been to a couple of the Post Classic racing committee's meetings there. Might catch up there, then, some time.
