    Resource Consent AND Common Sense

Just when I was convinced the government and local bodies were all morons, this little gem turned up:

A very uncommon display of Common Sense. Perhaps they were all drunk at that vote...

    Good God. Foresight in Auckland.

I think that's one of the signs of the apocolypse.

"The Environment Court has yet to endorse the District Plan change but already the first major residential complex for Albany is set to go ahead."

    hmmmmm?

... how about an appeal, surely there will be a residents association that will make submissions at the next District Plan review?

Residents' Association? There are no residents within coo-ee of the stadium yet. That's the point, or didn't you read the article? People won't be able to knowingly move next door to the stadium and then complain about the fact that there's a stadium next door...

Sorry Mister D, what about Western Springs, Levels Raceway down south as examples. People moved there knowing about them and look what happened.

This is correct, however with this new example new residents will sign away the right to complain when they buy the property.

With Western Springs and Levels there isn't this protection.

I think this is a very uncommon example of forward thinking to avoid the shambles that are Springs, Eden, Levels and others

Becoming way more common, when we bought our few acres the title states that we can not object to normal farming activities on the farm next door and we are not to sell or lease to anyone who does not agree to this. Good idea me thinks.

That's the whole point of the article....they won't be able to do this if they buy into the new stuff going up at Albany.

As Fairlie said, forward thinking, and common sense...in Auckland of all places.
