    Memento's VMCC Round 2

    I suck.

    Lol.

I had finally gotten my head around the upside down gears of the KR and already knew the track fairly well and I still sucked hahaha.

I dunno man, I struggled during qualifying following someone who was taking it easy and I still couldn't keep up. I managed to scrape 16 seconds off my qualifying time however for the first race, and maintained around an average of a 1:43, something like that anyway.

My first race was one hell of a lot of fun, I don't think I've leant a bike over that far and seeing the ground come up towards you like that is awesome and I came back to the pits with a massive grin on my face.

I managed to keep up with the pack for around the first lap maybe, until my no shows when powering out of bends took their toll on my times and I started to lag behind.

I just can't get the power on coming out of corners. I enter them with the back squirming, braking hard and banging down a few gears and the bike screaming, keep the power level into the bend but of course by the time I'm powering back out of the bend the bike's no longer in the powerband and I'm sitting there with the throttle pinned, making 'go faster' movements and shouting COME ON, COME ON!! to the bike as it slowly picks up again.

I need to practice slipping the clutch as AJ said, or trying to change down... well, up... erm... yeah, out of corners but I mean it confuses me now lol and I get the impression that changing down will screw my concentration as my brain lapses back into road mode and then I'll be faffing around as the next bend approaches wondering whether to change up or down this time round!

I just need to think, when coming out of bends, push the gear selector 'up' and then 'down' if need be, and then when braking for the next bend, change up a few times again. Yeah, something like that.

I'm not sure what happened on the final race either, I was really pushing hard, braking later and scaring myself into every corner, trying to slip the clutch out of bends which helped, tucking right behind the screen, I was sweating and out of breath by the time the race was over yet it was my worst of the day. I just couldn't keep up for the life of me, so I've no idea what happened there. Maybe I was tired beforehand or something? I dunno, I felt fine, not tired.

Hmm, and another scary moment was when I got sandwiched by two 125GP riders through a bend round the S's which put the shits up me a bit but this is racing and that's what happens lol.

God, this sounds like a right old moan!! Talking about my bad points, I'm sorry. Being a perfectionist is shite! All in all, the day was awesome, I had one hell of a lot of fun and I'm really looking forward to the next round to try and figure out this bike a bit more.

Thank you so so much VMCC, for giving me this opportunity to race, I just wish I could do a better job for you!!

Thanks also to Luke and AJ for helping me out with a few bike things, AJ again for the support, and also Kyle, you natural. You were awesome!

It was good to see everyone again, especially Avalon, Jas and her family, and Alex, thanks guys for all your tips and stuff.

See you at the next round!!

Chances are one of those two GP riders was me --

So i'll apoligise regardless. Sorry about that, i try my best to make it as safe and non-scary for the SS riders, but in some situations, its either scare the riders or lose a position. Its a really hard thing to have to choose between. esp when you're winning the race and don't wanna let it go.

Anywho, it's great to see the vic club getting in there and getting people out racing. thats awesome. And ait's even more awesome to see that you are having a ball. lets try keep it that way

was impressive to see you (sketchy racer) running round the track... Certainly had that green machine wound up and rearing to go. Nice riding.

You gotta start somewhere! I hope this helps......when I race bikes with a 1 up the rest down pattern I find the best way to remember what I doing (well ok....trying to do) is when entering corners, I say to myself "Whoa....gotta slow this puppy up!" (pulling up on the gear lever) When I'm on the juice on the way out it's "Get down and BOOGIE! (tapping down for 'up'!).

Then again.....I'm quite simple, so need simple things to get me by!

Good luck with your racing....and most of all...have fun!

Ease up on yourself. You got out there and did it. You had fun. Gave it your best and learnt heaps. Pat yourself on the back big time. See you next time.

Hey!!!, i reckon you did awesome!!!, you got out there and actually took 17 seconds off (more than me all day!) 1:53 to a 1:40.
Dont put your self down , you got out there and finished all the races .

Next time dont think about it as much, i realised in the second race that i was thinking too much and as you probably noticed i sudenly increased in speed at the end when i thought to my self.
"Im thinking too much, just ride ." - and it worked .

Sorry if i scared you at all taking you on the inside i know i was quite close in the 2nd race.

    Overall a very good job!!!

Thanks a heap for letting me stay at your house (thank your parents as well ).

btw i cheated - i had normal gears, im changing em next time.

Both of you scholarship riders are doing exactly what you should be. Having fun and getting even more addicted. It was great to feed off some of your enthusiasm. It's already been said but its worth repeating, we've all got to start somewhere. Damn I love cliches. Every journey starts with the first step etc. Looking forward to the next round.

I know it's frustrating, but you'll get faster the more laps you do.. as you've proven. 17 seconds is AWESOME!! Keep it up

I am a 125GP Rider and think it may have been me I did cut pretty close,

As Sketchy describes we try to make our moves clean as but we cant always make them 100% and hold a place,

I normally give you 150's a wave if I do wrong

So I am sorry if I scared you

Thething with a125 is we have nopower whatso ever so we have to ride harder round the bends and whenwe are trying to keep the pace concentrate on the track and passing you guys safely it is almost impossible
