Not good news.
I was a great fan of the Ramones, to the point where one of our bands learned to play the entire Live album for a private party for a friend who, coincidentally, is now dead.
I tried to play like Johnny but never was able to get the knack of playing with the guitar so low. A friend of mine, Eugene Pope, who's been in Flesh D-vice for about 25 years now, mastered the art of playing with the guitar by his knees.
Anyway, learning Ramones songs as a teenager taught me a lot about consistent timing, and keeping things simple and tight. Their songs may have been basic in construction but they were exceptionally well executed.
Joey, Dee Dee and now Johnny gone. It's kind of like the end of an era.
Makes me feel old. :disapint:
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
