I'd vote that cage stuff by bikers is a legitimate interest and should stay. Any attempt to censor is narrow minded and I'm not buying T-shirts and having made donations in the past for you to limit anyone's views.
Fair enough, but there are plenty of dedicated cage forums around the place for anyone to talk in. As long as the rules are well defined, I see no problem with banning talk about cages. Its all up to the admin to decide. The Rave On forum is there for anything that doesnt directly relate to bikes, but it doesnt have to be for *anything*.

Anything is anything surely? As a biker, if others start talking about cars it certainly is getting closer to my interests than talking about religion, US Presidential elections, military weapons, and much of the other stuff that has been written. Which of course I have no objection to. I like to hear opinions of bikers on all matters and would hate to see this forum restricted. Motu's story about his hand on the girl in the bikini was a good one, but it was a cage story, which are you telling me is a conversation we shouldn't have had?
    Cheers

I'm kinda interested in this thread, and I'm interested in most old(er) cars or rally cars. So, yes I did enjoy Motu's thread. I'm just going to ignore any threads that I dont want to read anyway, but I'm playing devil's advocate for the moment.
I would not like, however, to see the Rave On forum dominated by car talk, rather than being the big mix that it is at the moment.... If I'm interested in talking cars, I'll go to a car forum. Not that I would actually do that, because they dont tend to be as good people as the bikers.... The number of idiots (tards?) on car forums tends to be rather high.... I'm personally worried about attracting said tards....

I'm not interested in car threads ,but cars are important to me...it's how I earn my living, some of you computer kids do computer talk here,ok by me,you can do that,I won't look.Cars teach me about bikes, engines work the same - I take knowledge from here...apply to there, lot's of stuff can be learned, not just cars, boats, planes,Penthouse mags (just the articles). If I post about cars it will something that interests me - if someone else posts about cars I'm liable to tear it to bits - I know more about faults in cars than any of you could ever know,it's all I do,fix faults in cars,I will only be negative - well, unless it's a cute Morris Minor...

    Cool

Does this mean I can talk about my EA Stationwagon ?? .... having that really makes me appreciate my bike !! :love2: ..... the only good thing about a cage is that you use it to store your kids when out shopping for a new bike !! I use cars because I have to in order to my tribe around .... but I'm here to see and learn and chat with guys (& Gals) about bikes ..... so take the cage outs I say !!! ......

Cages as a topic of conversation?

I have a very nice, well-engineered V6 Camry that will probably do half a million kays before anything needs replacing. It makes more power than any bike I'm likely to own in the next ten years, and it's the most boring shiny expensive thing I've ever owned.

My bike is also boring, as bikes go, but I manage to do some fun stuff on it.

Now *some* talk about cages, when they're interesting or in relation to other interesting things, is OK, I think, but as a general subject cars are just boring. Large lumps of tin to haul crap around in. Who cares?

Posting a thread about "ain't this a cool cage" is crossing the line, IMHO.

But, as an exception, it's allowed when it's cool *and* old enough to be remembered fondly by all the crusty old greasemonkeys on the site.

Hence, six-pack Chargers are acceptable. Audi rallycars are not.

    Now we're talking!!!!

And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Bullit,a legend of a movie, and lots of stories - I heard McQueen wanted to do the driving in it,so they put him in the Mustang and he promptly spun out!,that's the big tyre smoke burn out you see,no more driving for him.I must get that out on DVD someday.

I've driven a turboed Charger that puts out 450hp and 500ft lb torque - careful he says, you can loose this thing in a straight line in top gear,a totaly awesome machine.I hope he brings it in one day so I can show you all,but he doesn't drive it much now,and it doesn't actualy need a WoF,he has some special rego for it.Built to do Auckland/Wellington in illeagal times it has a huge tank in the boot.

Had an E38. Fucken good fun.

It was especially great going up the Wainui hil at 70mph in 2nd, then just squeeze a bit more throttle and start dialling in opposite lock.

Had the Peoples hero in the suicide seat atthe time and the porr bastard was trying to tear the dashboard off with his fingernails.

That was the only car i've ever owned that he wouldn't accept my offer for him to have a drive.

He was PETRIFIED of the fucker!
