    How cold?

any body know how to convert the wind chill factor?

i rode home from work a 6am today with my Revit jacket, shoei XR1000, alpinestar SP1 gloves, gearne boots and a pair of levis at about the speed of 140kmph for about 20mins with my visor open because i couldnt see! There was a frost, well everthing was frozen and so was my bike. the temp was -3c ......... it would be nice to know how cold it was with the wind chill factor, because it took agers to get feeling back in my legs, hands and face.

    0.0817*(3.71*SQRT(W)+5.81-0.25*W)*(T-91.4)+91.4 -> C

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Oiiiiiiiii, we're sensitive caring types up here.

Without cranking up Jims equation, I work on about a 5 degree drop in temp per 50km/hr...works for our temperate climate here.

I have to agree it's flaming cold. Yesterday went to work at about 4.30pm, couldn't find my Cordura trou!!!! @_@ Only my jacket. Have found them now, mum had stuffed them into a cupboard in the garage (gargre) for some unknown reason, but I was running late so had to go without.

You know what saved me? Football socks!! Long, woollen, stripy football socks. Normal dress socks over the top, mind, so I don't look like a complete twat (any more than usual). So when I came home at 11pm, my feet and calves were nice and warm, so was my top half and head (scarf wrapped around mouth, wish I could do that to my girlfriend sometimes); however my thighs and arse froze near off.

So when in your hour of need, football socks may save your hairy legs from turning blue.

Quasi's sports gloves look nice and crash well (so I've heard), but they're not the warmest things. Need to find some of those thermal inner things you wear on the inside.

    the wind- chill factor

    Sidewinder, hope this helps.

    " The wind-chill factor"

    Kilometers per hour

    PHP Code:
    C          50          65          80          100          115          130          145
    26        21.5        21          20.5        20           19.5         18.5         18.5
    21        13.5        13          12.5        12           11.5         11            10.5
    15        5.5          4           3.6          2.8          2             1.6            1
    10
    -2         -3.4        -5          -6.4         -7.5         -8.2          -9
    5
    -10.5      -12.2     -13.1        -14          -14.5       -15.1         -15.8
    0
    -18         -20.5     -22.5        -23.6       -24.5       -25.8         -26.6
    -5      -26.6       -30        -30.5       -31.6       -33.4       34.5         -35.6
approximate temperatures but very close, gives you an idea how cold it gets out there while riding.
Make shure you all have good warm thermals on at this time of year, and ready for any sudden temp change while traveling.

For those that missed it, there is a link at the bottom of my post to a converter which uses to different methodologies to show the effects of wind chill. The bottom one is generally accepted to be more accurate.

I did NOT just post a formula.
