Rossi Gal Does Manfeild - VMCC #2

16-06-07 Victoria Club - Round Two

Well it’s been a wee while since I've done one of these....

Well after getting all excited for round one and then having it cancelled, it just made me even more determined to do well in round two. So I spent the time in between rounds getting a bit better set up. Even found myself some sponsors! (Thanks Speed-Tech, RiverCity Signs, Pirelli, Alf Racing)

So, Thursday 14/06 Dad and I loaded up my bike with it’s newly, pretty painted fairings and hit the road. Stopping off in Hamilton to pick up race stands and tyre warmers seem mine hadn’t arrived yet to find that the guy had never dropped them off so borrowed a rear stand from Speed-Tech and we were on our way

Friday morning woke up to a crisp, but very blue sky and sunny day.. PERFECT for testing that day.. Hehe let me at it!!
Day went awesomely well!! New tyres (Pirelli’s) felt great! Got right back into the groove I had found on the track last year. With the help of an awesome pit crew (Dad) I completed 7 x 20min session and was happy as Larry!!
But shagged once I got back to the house (thinking maybe I had over done it just a wee bit).
I had even been offered to share a shed with one of my fellow competitors.. Mark you're Great

    Saturday 16/06

Yet another mint day. Feeling good.
Unloaded the bike and got settled in. Put on the tyre warmers that KZ had lent me the day before (big thanks)...to find out right before qualifying that the front one had stopped going. Out on a cold front I had planned to be in the first out to get some good laps in too.. Oh well.
Came in feeling as though I had done ok, thought maybe 3rd-4th. Results came out and from 3rd-6th there was 0.003sec of a difference in our times so I was 6th. Not to worry.

    Race one:

Lined up on second row, ready to go! Green flag and off I go...Hole shot yeehaa! Felt good. Lost a few places in the first lap. Had a good battle with my shed companion Mark, and another on a cbr600 whom I later out braked coming into turn one only to get a mean drift-turning high side material coming out of turn one losing the place I had just gained! Dam it! But got a 4th so was happy.

    Race two:

Determined not to lose as many places this time. Ready to go as the green flag dropped only to have the guy in front of me not go. Then getting boxed in and losing lots of places Dam, bugger, crap. Made up a few places and had the front group in sight but not quite enough time to catch them. Result, 6th.

    Race three:

After having everyone say it’s going to rain, and me insisting it wasn’t going to.. Which it didn’t.. Until we were waiting on the dummy grid for our last race Grr. But didn’t worry me, I like the rain So got another awesome start and hole shot again I believe. Only losing a couple of places in the next few corners, only to gain them all back! yeehaa!! Out front leading the race. I can only imagine how big the grin on my face was, hehe. Saw a whole bunch of cheer leaders from Welly and New Plymouth on the side lines as I came past. So all was going good in my books. Saw that I managed to gain a rather good size lead. But just to check that, (god knows why cos I never do this) I took a look over my shoulder before coming into the last corner, last lap to see know one there! Wicked. Turn back to see someone had decided not to let a lil girl beat them and had snuck up on the other side of me passing me into the last turn. Result, 0.05sec behind him I think.

So to sum it all up, it was a fantastic weekend of riding, and a 3rd overall to show my efforts.

I need to say a BIG thank you to a few people including: Speed-Tech.co.nz, RiverCity Signs for my sexy looking fairings, Pirelli, Alf Racing, my Dad, Tim for all his support and excellent Pit crewing, Frenchy for his support and sorting out my new race-mobile for me, Awesome! (Without that I could not attend), The KickingZebra family for the tyre warmers, Alex for the front stand, Mark Bennett for being such a good sport and sharing his shed. (even once I beat him )

Supersport next time chick. May as well learn from those fast fellas on their 600s now that you've proved you can keep up!

    Well done RossiGal.

I know what ya mean about the test day. So much track time! I did 8 sessions, and for my current level of fitness that was way too much!!

Saw your battle with those dudes in the last race. Great to watch!

One of "those dudes" was me, I have some good video of us swapping places several times in the same lap in that last race. If that 400 haddnt got in the way between us, I think it would have been more of a battle right to end.
Im really looking forward to mixing it up with you next time

PS:im forth overall, so watch out LOL
