Waylander, if it's too cold and there's too many rules for you, you could always go on the Girls Warm Kiwi at Awakeri Hotsprings instead.
Been on bigger rallies so this one wont bother me if I miss it.

Hmm... newbie question here: I get REALLY cold hands even in Taupo, so I'm expecting it will be worse at Waiuoru, any one have any suggestions on gloves that will keep them really warm? Is wool or thermal gloves better?

Have you got Hot grips fitted to your MC, if not, you are not doing yourself any favours.

Sorry, do mean gloves to wear at the rally, I wear themal type, cheap as chips at any outdoor store, beware ,they melt in excessive heat, as per open fire.

A good trick or two: Go to Kathmandu and you can get mini (palm size) gel pockets that when you bend them, there is a chemical reaction and they get very warm for about 2 hours...

Another one is to have a pair of possum gloves inside your normal gloves...not very efficient for when you're riding, but great while standing around the fire.

And let's not forget the heaven sent hot water bottle

Last but not least, get massively drunk on DB

Still haven't opened mine...I'm curious to see what will happen in 10 years and about 5 house moves...

A couple of us have a tradition of a few(lots) Jamieson's Irish whiskeys at the Kiwi.. I bet they won't be selling that there.. so as usual we'll take our own..guess there's gonna be a long queue as every bag/pannier/trailer is searched..yeah right!!!
