Two Smokers VMCC Rnd 2 '07 Race Report

    Hey everyone,

First time ive been on KB in over a month (working hard to pay for racing)

SS Qualifying: First time on Conti Race Attack Tyres, Took it easy, and the times showed... Qualifyed 5th just behind Trash Man...

SB Qualifying: Even worse!!! Qualifyed 10th...

SS Race 1: Got a wicked start, and braked late into turn one putting my in 5th place chasing down Jimmy, Nicko, Nick Cole and Jay... All was going well, but i was a little off pace with gearing issues. Bike felt fantastic, and the tyres even better. Then on the the final Lap, Craig "Crazy Wheels" Gollop shot up the inside of me into splash, where he promptly fell off... I started shitting bricks trying not to run him over... Only just managed to not run him over, but my knee collected his back. Kyle key took this opportunity and passed me getting a good 50 metre gap on my, I chased as hard as i could, but finish 0.6 of a second behind him in 5th place...

SB Race 1: Got an ok start and raced well... was sitting comfortably in 4th with Jay just in the distance... Then Neil Martin on his GSX-R1000 got a blinder of a last lap and piped me to the line by 0.4 of a second relagating me to 5th...

SS Race 2: Got a shocking start, I had swapped over my gearing and was trying to run a 16F 47R combo, but didnt have time to put on the 16F... I still had a 15F on so it was very short gearing... This all resulted in a ok first gear start, but then as the front came down off first gear i hooked second right on the bounce sending the front skyrocketing and causing me to soil myself... I sorted myself out and started chasing Jimmy... I dove underneath him into Splash (didnt see the yellow flag) and that put me in 4th right behind Craig and Nicko... Crossed the line in 4th, got a 10 second penalty putting me in 6th... Ah well its racing...

SB Race 2: Got a mint start, but then my bike got an attack of the gremlins!!! It was revving fine under power, but would not blip for the down changes!!! It stayed like this for the whole race, and i slowly fell back in the race order from 5th, to 11th...

SS Race 3: Jimmy explained most of this... Nicko was a crack up!!! Crashing twice in the same race on the same corner!!! Legend mate!!! After taking apart the airbox, checking the butterflies and fuel line. We couldnt find anything wrong... Luckily the bike was running fine again! On the restart i got a good one, and settled in right behind Jimmy who was right up behind Nicko. I was waiting for an oppurtunity to pass Jimmy... It finally came on the last lap, Nicko decided to have a cup of tea at the hairpin and trashy nearly crashed into him, I shot up the inside of Jimmy and managed just to stay infront of him till the chequered flag even after a shocker of an exit onto the front straight! I set the fastest lap for this race...

SB Race 3: Got a good start, nearly had a crash with Nicko at the hairpin, had the front sliding and back wheel in the air... Saved it, and passed him later on to chase down Jimmy... Finished 3rd 0.3 seconds behind Jimmy...

Finally got the bike Dyno tuned... lets just say it isnt very powerful, but it has improved... Big thanks to Gav (HDTboy) for rebuilding my motor, Engine Specialists for timing the cams and Toby at Henderson Motorcycles for tuning the bike

Highly recommend the new Continental Race Attacks!!! Great feed back from the tyre, and huge amounts of grip... Best tyre I have used!!!

Thanks to Chloe for the support and help in the pits Jill (keystone_19) for taking my bike down. Gav for taking myself and Chloe down and providing the entertainment. Trev For supplying the bike. Moto-Dynamix. Colemans Suzuki and Darbis for the Continental Race Attacks!!!

    Bring on round 3

    Cheers, Chris

Don't feed him ANYTHING? At all? But it's my only worthwhile contribution to a race day! That and distracting Jay by the sound of it.

Did I not do a good enough job of distracting Jay? He didn't crash enough for your liking?
